A blog is defined as a collection of posts usually sticking to a single topic. However, considering the response of what does in fact contribute to the making of a good blog varies on personal opinion and whether the reader is actually interested in the topic being discussed.
The founder of the popular site ‘Technorati’ is quoted in Zarrella as advising that one of the key fundamentals in creating a successful blog is to have consistent posts with quality information and opinion in them. Yet another element to creating a good blog is to back up any points made with evidence, especially when more controversial topics are being discussed.
In my personal opinion, a blog which contains interesting stories and a clear, structured layout would be more attractive to me than blogs which are not correctly formatted and set out as just plain text with nothing to engage the reader. It is important to engage the reader and grab their attention when developing a blog, yet at the same time, the content of the different posts is vital to retaining loyal followers.
But as mentioned earlier, it is different to each individual reader depending on things such as the tone, the layout, the content, the style of writing and whether the person has any interest in what is actually being discussed, from fashion to sport and cooking to DIY and technology, blogs should differ in the approach they take to tackling the subject.
