Year of the Zebra - Part Two
Having released the lighter, more upbeat Part One back in September, we now present the 'Year Of The Zebra - Part Two' EP. Recorded at the same time as Part One, as something of a sequel to 'The ZebrATP EP', this record is the darker half of the set - the black to Part One's white, if you're looking for a zebra analogy. It expands the ZebrATP sound somewhat, featuring keyboards, backwards effects, 12-string guitar and, in places a bit more fuzz. It also contains a certain amount of exploration and experimentation - 'Caroline' for example, is very different from anything else we've ever done (incidentally the guitar melody dates back to 1998, still not the oldest piece of music here - the intro guitar part to 'This Day Will Come' is something I came up with in '96; finally it found a home as part of this song).
The songs were recorded back in late winter and early spring 2013, originally hoped to be a swift follow up to 'The ZebrATP EP', with recording beginning before that record was even released. As will now be apparent this proved not to be the case, in fact it was something of a struggle to get the 'Year Of The Zebra' records out, but I'm happy that the songs have now seen the light of day. Probably the most obvious continuation of the 'ZebrATP' sound can be found in 'Take Me As I Am', which is one of my favourite ever Postcode songs. In reality though, the song was actually written prior to the recording of that EP. In a way the song, and this whole record, serves as a farewell to that sound and period of time for the band. Once again the record features only myself and Marie, but now that we have a stable line-up we're looking to the future, with the full five-piece band. That doesn't diminish my love for these songs however and we hope that you will feel the same way about them.

We've been quiet for some time, but here is a new video. This is one of my favourite Postcode songs and will feature on 'Year Of The Zebra - Part Two', which is released tomorrow.
Random Diary Entry 13/10/2014
I've not really been doing a whole lot of blogging as you may have noticed if you pay attention to the world of Postcode (if not I guess you're not reading this), so here's a quick update.
Surely you're already aware of this, but if not, we've released two records this year, February's 'Zebratronic' and the recent 'Year Of The Zebra - Part One'. If for some reason you haven't got them yet then we'd urge you to investigate them on our Bandcamp page, which of course can be found here - https://postcode.bandcamp.com
The current plan is to release Part Two of the EP early next year, though it is already finished and ready to go more or less. Right now we're in the midst of recording this year's Christmas song for Small Bear Records' annual festive compilation. Johnny got his drums down last week and I've just finished recording my guitars. Steve and Kieran should be laying down their parts on Wednesday, so then Marie will have everything there to put her vocals to. We're actually kind of behind schedule to be honest, but hopefully I'll have it all mixed and finished ready for the intended release date of November. At least it seems like we've got most of the tracks in from the other contributors already, including two others from me, as Nanaki and Harmony Dischord.
Yesterday we had fun making another new video, for 'Losing The Battle' from 'Zebratronic'. I had been disappointed that we hadn't made a video for anything from the album, so I'm glad that we have now rectified that. It's probably kinda weird, but I'm happy with how it's turned out. I believe that it is uploading as we type, so hopefully soon you'll be able to see for yourself.
Another review for our new EP, courtesy of D4AM. I like this one, it's nice that it actually references our past work. And yeah, if we sound peculiar then I guess that's just because we are! I have been known to reject things that sound too conventional/cliched though.
The first review of 'Year Of The Zebra - Part One' is from Yeah I Know It Sucks, and it's really quite nice.
A brand new video, for the lead track from our just-about-to-be released Year Of The Zebra - Part One EP. Directed once again by the non-existent auteur Venison Lamprey.
Directly related to the last post...
I once stated that this song may never see the light of day. Hopefully I was wrong and it will available in the not-too-distant future.
