the “it hurts no one” argument is a practical one and a good way to measure the extent of an action but i just feel like it’s used in all the wrong conversations in so many wrong ways. some of these people don’t account for the harm done in misrepresentation, ignorance and misinformation and it goes to show how radically ignorant we are to how we treat people.
i also feel like it’s a premature conversation stopper which is frustrating because these topics are worth having whether or not they cause harm other people. maybe it outcomes to re-evaluation, further internal exploration, realising the person on the other end is immoral, MAYBE it even helps you come to the conclusion that yes, it does harm people!!
