Got the Legend of Zelda style of brain rot today. I'm going to ramble. And YOU CAN'T STOP ME! >:D
So I love the idea that more than one Link is somehow related to the others. (For the sake of clarity I will be using their Linked Universe titles for the most part, the same goes for the Zeldas' except check out the Wisdom-verse comic series for their respective name/titles)
Obviously we've got Sky and Sun getting together at some point, they love each other too much to not end up a couple. THIS; however, implies that Sky is the ancestor to ALL of the Zeldas' in history who come after his girlfriend/wife. I find this ENDLESSLY amusing (Side Note: I am easily amused). :)
The next Link in the Chain is the very enigmatic Hero of Men who came before Smithy; but ignoring that one, Smithy's relationship to Dot is very cute and I feel like they might wind up together... obviously given some years for them both to grow up, though. This would then mean that BOTH Sky and Smithy are ancestors to all of the upcoming Zeldas'! Crazy!
Can you imagine the other members of the Chain discovering that Sky is very romantically involved with Sun, only to have one or two members realize that there is a NON-ZERO chance that he's the great-great-something grandpa of their Zelda?? The bafflement, the shock, the confusion, the joy at meeting some distant relative of their princess- It could be comedy gold, people!
I personally really do see Smithy and Dot together. I played and replayed that opening tutorial of Minish Cap for hours upon hours as a little kid (...partially because I wanted to hear Vaati's laugh over and over, but also Smithy and Dot's friendship is what I view as a perfect friendship.) SO, I'm also a major fan of the 'Legend and Fable are twins' detail that I keep seeing in fanfics and fan comics, I'm not sure if that's a canon detail in Legend's games or not but I am 100% on board with the idea!
That means that on top of Old Man Time being Twilight's great-something grandpa, BOTH Smithy and Sky are distantly, distantly related to Legend and Fable! And just- again, I think it'd be hilarious if the chain found out these two were the distant ancestors of their respective Zeldas'. Think about the Chain meeting Smithy's grandpa Smith; he always looked a bit like the kings of Hyrule to me (it's probably the scrunchy face and long beard). Imagine Wind mistaking Mr. Smith for the Kind of Red Lions. The older members of the Chain thinking about how their tiny Smithy will look in a few decades as an old guy, he'd probably fit right in with the past kings of Hyrule.
Smithy and Sky also both have a connection to big birds; the Wind Tribe birds who can be called using the Ocarina of Winds and the Loftwings. They may not be the same kind of birds but they both like to carry people places!
I don't know how any of the Zeldas' would react to hearing that their Link met on of their ancestors(/descendent when referring to Legend), but I'm sure Flora would be ecstatic to hear about how the Goddess's bloodline and the past Heroes interacted with one another and about her own ancestry. Dot would probably be interested too, but maybe not quite to the same intensity as Flora. As for Sun... She is probably calm on the outside, but I could picture her mentally throwing a party in her own mind because this means she does wind up marrying Sky and they'll have their own family line which carries on for generations upon generations to come, across multiple timelines even! She's happy.
