ango really did consider dazai and oda his friends. he befriended them to initially become a betrayer but somewhere along the way he actually formed a meaningful bond and realized ‘oh shit what am i doing’. like i imagine his guilty conscience was eating him alive because he never expected to befriend two people from the mafia.

that just hurts more because it’s the friendship he least expected to happen, that he betrayed.
