“Hey, watch out!” Steven was lucky he’d decided to carry his temporary shield weapon with him on his walk today, because here was the perfect opportunity to use it.
He jumped out in front of the person ahead, blocking the arrow. It stuck the trashcan lid he held out as a shield. The lid was nowhere near as strong as his old shield, but it sent back the same vibrations, destabilizing the arrow’s shooter, who looked quite upset before flying off.
“Geez, I’ve never seen a baby do that back home.” He looked down at the lid, where there was now a small dent. The arrow now laid splintered on the ground. He looked back at the person he’d saved.
“I wonder why they wanted to shoot you? Are these things why everyone is acting so weird?”
