What can you tell about Lyra's parents?

Zeta and Vega (Zeta being the star) both lived on Earth and for the most time, raised Lyra there. They live(d) in one of the major cities, and so it became increasingly difficult and dangerous to hide the fact that the whole family wasn’t entirely human. Zeta had to get into some really sketchy business to keep him, Vega, and Lyra protected. But, over time, both Zeta and Vega became worn out from hiding, and paying to hide. (Zeta became very broken as he saw many of his friends picked off one by one, his brother managed to survive but Zeta was never able to see him as it was too dangerous). I always say that Lyra’s parents were horrible people, but in all honesty, they were once happy and good people who now have been broken by the world around them.
