I wrote a one page oneshot while bored in the fitting room at work today.... shout out to this meet cute generator for the prompt, character A saving character B’s at from a tree
“Just a little farther…” Zinda said to herself, willing her arms to reach just a little more. The tree branch attempting to support her weight wobbled slightly. The large orange cat she was currently risking her life to save yowled at the disturbance.
“Jeez, I’m trying to rescue your sorry ass,” she grumbled.
“Is everything okay up there?” The rather cute red headed woman whose foolhardy cat Zinda had decided to rescue called to her.
“Everything is—just peachy,” Zinda grunted, scooting closer to the cat on her tree branch. Now that the cat was in reach, Zinda lunged, wrapping him tightly in her arms. Her sudden movement was met with a loud crack as the branch snapped under her and the cat’s combined weight.
She tumbled back to earth with a less than grateful screech. While she expected to be met with the hard, unforgiving pavement, her fall was instead softened by the cute girl who Zinda was now sitting on.
“Oh gosh, are you okay!?” Zinda exclaimed. The cat hopped out her arms to lick his owner’s cheek.
“Me?” the woman laughed. “You’re the one who fell out of a tree! I’m sure there’s a line in there somewhere about angels falling from heaven.”
Zinda can’t help her blush. “I, I never got your name, did I.”
“I suppose you didn’t. I’m Gloria, and the orange bastard cat is Warrior.”
“I’m Zinda, Zinda Blake.” She scooted off Gloria’s lap and stood, extending a hand to help the woman up.
“Say, think I could thank you with a coffee?” Gloria asked.
Zinda’s grin was brighter than the sun.
“I’d like that very much.”
