Zipper had a vet appointment before we left Nashville because we were concerned about a lump on his chest, and the vet did lab testing, it showed negative for cancerous cells, and was determined to just be Old Boy Lumps (which, when dogs and cats get old, sometimes they get lumps, you know?). And of course we were relieved! He’s our sweet boy and we love him -

But now he has more lumps, and he’s having trouble eating anything except mashed food and he’s lost a lot of weight. Our new vet recommended him to an imaging specialist - she (new vet) was very kind, but she thinks it probably is cancer. I’m not. I’m trying not to think too far ahead about it yet, but. We will see how his appointment with the specialist goes on Thursday. I guess think positive thoughts for Zipper this week please.

We said good bye to Zipper yesterday - he was a good little dude all the way. We took him for a car ride, he got to look out all the windows, he got his favorite fast food nuggets and cheeseburger to snack on.

I don’t feel guilty. It helps to know that there was literally nothing we could have done. The specialist made a point of calling me to let me know that he ran some extra tests, and wanted us to know that it was very fast, very agressive, and wouldn’t have responded to treatment. Honestly, everyone here has been so kind, and have gone kind of above and beyond. So I don’t feel guilty about how things turned out.

I just miss my sweet boy so much.
