Zoe 2018 ending... (Spoilers)
Do you think that there's a possibility that the Zoe that cries in Cole's arms at the end is actually a second generation and that the first gen Zoe actually died or was dismantled or whatever it is called?
Because the second gen in Zoe's apartment said it herself (when Cole went to visit), they, the second generation, all have her memories and her feelings and everything she ever was and more. And since Zoe first gen (the one Cole grows to love throughout the movie) is a machine incapable of crying, do you think that it's possible that Doremus actually meant for the viewer to understand that since she's a machine, she cannot evolve and since the Zoe at the end is crying, it is not actually the real Zoe but rather one of the second gen copies only placed there in order to give Cole peace? That the real Zoe actually died and, that the company or Cole’s family or friends all knew that, for him to be able to be happy and move on, he’d need Zoe. But the first version wasn’t complete enough and therefore, the only way to allow him to move on was to improve her, but since Cole wanted her, they just replaced her with a second gen (who had all of Zoe’s memories) and who’s task was to pretend to be the original Zoe, to grant Cole forgiveness for all he put Zoe through and eventually, to love him the way he needs to be loved?
Just watched the movie and the ending threw me off. Cause she’s a machine so she shouldn’t be able to cry or even evolve into crying. Like, if she didn’t have the ability to produce tears in the first place, then how did she manage to produce them all of a sudden? Unless she magically started producing tears because the power of love allowed her to do so. Or in the underground club, what actually happened was that the woman who was supposed to shut her down actually added to Zoe the ability to produce tears.
Either way, if you have a theory please do share because I’m only speculating based on what I saw and understood of the movie. Which was really good btw. Good job to Drake Doremus and everyone involved.
