Simple setup for ambient sound recording with bees: Zoom H4pro + Rode Videomic pro // #rodemics #zoomsoundlab #zoomh4npro #bees #naturesounds #mytown #schio #magrè (presso Schio)
..I occasionally obtained ambient audio logs from each of the locations featured in these photos, this past weekend. Maybe lately I don't have as much time to plan my field recordings, however I always have the tools with me, and eventually I find the time to record. This Monday morning I made a selection of recordings that I usually do at the beginning of the week.
Have a great weekend-.
...the sea, always the sea.
No wave is the same as the previous one.
They look similar, but they are all different.
One comes along and looks one way, another immediately comes along and looks another way, with different bodies, different impulses and different sound... and it's been that way since before we were on Earth.
It's the same with the wind: no matter how similar the gusts are, they are never the same.
And although these are recordings of the sea, I cannot ignore that the wind has an underlying protagonism, since it is part of this scenario and shares -together with the sea- the character of a kind of mythological beast that is indomitable and never bent-
-
..any place will never be the same in the next moment-.
..a few days ago there was little wind, which is good for obtaining field recordings of some quality.. I took my car and headed to a point on the road where there is a very wide curve. I parked on the side of the road and recorded there until the recorder's memory card was full.
I need to gather these types of recordings for a job in progress, so I will then go through everything and only save the best recordings.
A very curious phenomenon occurs there: this point, from where I made the recordings, is the concave part of the road...I visually detected the cars but I still did not hear the noise of their engines until they were already passing by in front of me….and as soon as they walked away, the sound stopped abruptly, as if they were further away from where they really were… Instead, if I stood on the opposite side [the most convex part of the road] I saw and heard the cars approached with a natural progressiveness... however, when they passed in front of me, the noise level of their engines dropped considerably, and they regained the intensity when exiting the curve that surrounded me.
On the way back I stopped to have a coffee and in my thoughts I tried to find an explanation for this, which surely has one, and I suspect that it may have its origin in the nature of the place, although I am not sure-.
..each place has its own soundscape, its own "noises". If you walk at least 20 steps from that place where you are, you really haven't gone very far… that is, visually nothing has changed, however, your perception of the same sound source has changed significantly. Each place, the environment in which you find yourself, always has something to say. ..[these are some photos of the field recordings I did recently]-.
Some changes coming to the podcast in the new year. I’ve been busy recording content and it feels great. At the end of an October day’s hunt, Kevin’s wall tent, warm and flickering, is the perfect recording studio. . . #foodafieldpodcast #walltents #audiorecordingstudio #zoomh4npro https://www.instagram.com/p/CVVZ2foFewO/?utm_medium=tumblr
