Fascinating behind the scenes experience of the Atlas Studios in the desert at the base of the Atlas Mountains. The light there is perfect for filming so many movies we have enjoyed throughout the years. Some that come to mind are Ben Hur, Game of Thrones, King Tut, Babel, Gladiator, Othello, Lawrence of Arabia, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Sex and the City 2, Blackhawk Down, American Sniper and the list goes on and on. #zoommorocco #zoomvacations (at Atlas Studios Ouarzazate) https://www.instagram.com/zoomvacations/p/BxNyosfglYB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4wd5ohcqhw4r
Morocco has hundreds of years of Jewish history as well as many Jewish quarters and synagogues in various cities to show for it. As many as 400,000 Jews thrived in Morocco under the protection of the Moroccan monarchy before most relocated to Israel and other parts of the world. In fact, during the World War 2 Holocaust when the King of Morocco, Mohammed V, was pressured to surrender Jews to the Nazis, he refused and allegedly told the Nazis, “There are no Jewish citizens, there are no Muslims citizens, they are all Moroccans.” #zoommorocco #zoomvacations (at Slat Lazama Synagogue, Marrakech) https://www.instagram.com/zoomvacations/p/BxJF_R-gB7k/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yjtfgd0qr1wo
Visiting ancient subterranean water wells in the desert that used to provide irrigation to local farmers. Although the wells dried up long ago, today, they provide an opportunity to visit and interact with the local Tuareg people and learn about their culture. #zoommorocco #zoomvacations (at Erfoud Desert) https://www.instagram.com/zoomvacations/p/BxFji76Atfo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=3vc8boldcqj
