Well I can see you appreciate the Zoophobia critique blog. What's overall thoughts on it?
I’m gonna assume that this is the same person who also sent the anon ask to ZPheadcanons recently.
My overall thoughts on it? Well, I’m glad that a blog like that exists and I like the concept of people being able to anonymously send in their critique without having to get bashed by the more rabid side of the community. However, I don’t necessarily agree with some of the submissions, and I won’t really go into detail about that.
What I will say though is that the blog does need a bit of tweaking in some different approaches. I did read the about section, and I was sort of appalled by what is sort of said, and I felt that some of it might have been a bit immature in some cases, and considering who it’s pointed towards, some might take it the wrong way and seriously try and attack the individual that happens to run the blog.
My thoughts on some of the submissions, there are some I agree with and some I do not agree with. The ones I don’t agree with seem to be the ones that’re kind of more so assumptions than anything else, and I also feel as if some of the ones sending in the submissions happen to be fans that are either horrendously impatient and selfish, or possibly have a resentment towards the creator for god knows what reason.
In terms of the valid critiques, I feel like those should be allowed to be said loud and clear without some of the fanbase being utterly imbecilic and trying to attack those that do offer good critique. Like honestly, for those that offer valid criticism, they’re honestly helping more than trying to be destructive, so why would anyone feel obligated to attack those people for voicing their critique or even opinion?
The common argument I’ve seen is that the main demographic of the fanbase happens to be young people, possibly 9-13 (That’s what I believe), but I find this to be ridiculous considering that anyone can read it, and there’s no set bound demographic for the comic since the comic is bound to travel into dark territory in regards to the story anyways. Viv herself has even stated that the comic will travel into more adult themes as the comic progresses, and if that’s the case, the demographic that so many people believes to exist would ultimately disappear. Anyone can read the comic regardless of how young or old someone is, but there will be times in the comic where it might not necessarily be kid friendly in a way.
And if the main demographic happens to be young people, wouldn’t you want the creator to set a better example for those younger people?
Recently, someone sent a submission to the zpcritique blog about how Viv may or may not realize how many people look up to her, and obtain inspiration. I know what that feels like, but since I’m more mature, I’m able to see specific flaws. With her supposed younger audience? They won’t see those flaws and automatically praise her for the things she does and even go far and wide and label her and her work as “perfect”. Another thing when regarding age is that intellect doesn’t really always depend on age. Some of the younger fans of hers might be intelligent enough to see those flaws while someone of the same age will not. That even goes for my age group. I’m seventeen, and I see flaws while another seventeen year old boy or girl won’t might not see those. I feel that maybe if Viv was to not ignore some of the critique she does receive, or possibly get attacked by the ravageous part of the fanbase, maybe the blog wouldn’t even be existent.
I understand that Viv is a very busy person and she happens to be working on many things at once and ZP is something that she herself wants to do for herself. But she needs to come to realization that she herself has formed a ginormous fan base with people. When you form something like that, people grow to appreciate you and look up to you, and maybe even gain the inspirational spark to become an animator like me. Viv should maybe try and set better example? That’s just what I think but yeh.
People will have differing opinions, and a lot of them will offer critique, and some will also go crazy over people who do offer critique.
Overall, I’m happy that this blog does exist, but I also feel like it could be tweaked to not come off as so aggressive in a sense, because at the moment, it does seem that way. Everything happens to have a developmental stage, and I feel that the person running the blog will come to that realization and correct things. We are all human beings in a world full of things to reference, inspiration, and differing opinions, and I feel that this blog can allow some to offer their valid critiques.
Although, I cannot tell the future. For all I know, this blog could simply add drama, but I have high hopes that it doesn’t, and I also believe that this person who runs the blog hopes the best for Viv as an individual. The person may dislike Viv in some cases, but I want to believe that the person hopes for Viv to succeed and flourish just as I do.
Edit: In case you might think this somehow confirms me liking the badwebcomics forum or whatever, I still disagree with a lot of it considering that most of it is bashfulness.
