The feeling of pain set in immediately. Words were spoken that cut like a sharp sword, right through him. And yet it felt like his emotions were cut away the moment he was escorted out of the building into the open field. From there, he had no idea where to go. The only way he couldn’t go, was back. Behind him lay his home, his family. And they betrayed him. Anger, rag took only moments to take hold of someone. And once it did, Roan finally moved properly. Running at first, he moved into the woods. For days he barely rested. Because why should he? Azgeda territory was hostile now. He was banished. It made it possible for his own people to end his life without having to fear real consequences. He didn’t intend to let them take his life.
It was when he calmed down that he noticed it. Movements behind him. Always directly behind him. Someone was following him. The question was - good or bad. If in doubt he would wager it was bad. Because some people of Azgeda were probably dying to end the princes life, who had opposed their queen just a day prior... or two. Roan made a plan as he moved along. Going a little faster, he hoped to shake his follower long enough to enact the plan.
He lay two traps, one hidden better than the other. Yet he made sure one was quite visible. That was the trap, one trap, deadly as it was meant to be, yet designed by him to be useless, the other active, rather harmless, meant to catch, not kill. He lay a path around the deadly trap, leading right into the real trap, which was well hidden. Not many would expect the prince to lay two traps right after another. And thus he waited hidden, for his follower to step around his trap and right into the real one.
