The Sadist’s Lullaby.
Victor Zsasz was no stranger to complex assignments. Don Falcone used the assassin to the fullest extent of his ability on more than one occasion; it kept the killer happy and in turn the Falcone family remained at the top of the criminal chain. As much as other families tried to hit Falcone where it hurts Zsasz and his team were always there to convince them otherwise.
Zsasz never questioned the jobs he was assigned, he was a killer and a hit was a hit. He was the best and he knew it – the pay was excellent and he wasn’t the type of man to get caught up with the morality of the job.
In the time he spent under the instruction of Don Falcone, the hitman had only ever been taken back by one assignment. In all his years, he had worked as a bodyguard, as an assassin, a mercenary and everything in between but he had never been asked to be a babysitter and if he was being honest the hitman felt pretty offended by the mere notion.
“Victor, I am not asking you to babysit my niece. She needs ‘supervision’ she is sick…” Carmine Falcone stated as he examined one of his prized hens, lifting the plump white bird from its nest and examining the soft white plumage carefully.
“Doesn’t she have a nurse?” The suited assassin groaned as he stretched his neck from side to side before stepping into the chicken coop with his employer.
Looking down at his boots, now messed with chicken waste and wet mud Zsasz grimaced – he had just spent the night before shining his boots and whilst he was used to getting blood off of his boots the killer was never too keen on cleaning shit off of his boots.
“She has had many nurses and doctors – they do her little good.” The older man stated simply.
Making a mental note to get one of his subordinates to clean his boots Zsasz watched in silence as the mob leader gently examined and caressed the bird before setting her back down into her nest with a smile before exiting the coop in silence and walking back in silence up to his summer home.
“Boss, you know what I do. What I am good at-.” Zsasz stated once more as he wiped off his feet on the entrance mat before following the mob boss into his kitchen. It had become custom for the other house employees to go silent when they were in the same room as their employer and having the infamous killer at his side seemed to enhance the intimidation factor.
Motioning for his kitchen staff to leave Don Falcone moved over to the fridge and took out a small blue gift box, wrapped in a sky blue silk ribbon.
“Tara was a sweet girl growing up but sadly she was disturbed at a young age and I fear – much like my beloved sister she is becoming more and more unhinged…” Falcone sighed as he made his way over to the kitchen table, pulling out a chair at the top of the table and sitting himself down.
“Here.” The bald assassin narrowed his eyes as he took a small baby blue gift box from the hand of his employer; the box was heavy for its size. The cold box looked innocent enough, pretty intricate wrappings of blue ribbon and a small gift card attached to the ribbon.
“Dear Uncle Carmine,
Lucy was fun…for a while. But you know I don’t like people that have wandering eyes.
See you after church on Sunday
Lots of Love
Tara
Xxx
P.s: Why do they always cry so much?
As Victor opened the gift box in his hands, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow and chuckle as the contents of the box was revealed. Falcone watched quietly as he assessed his assassin’s expression expecting such a reaction from the sadist standing in front of him.
“Do you see the problem?”
Victor chuckled as he looked into the box. A pair of frozen green eyes stared up at him – they look like they had been ripped from some poor souls face, putting two and two together Zsasz could only assume that these were the wandering eyes that were mentioned in the gift card.
“I see, but this poor soul doesn’t anymore!” Victor chuckled as he placed the box on the table before picking up both eyes and mimicking there movements in front of his own eyes much to the disapproval of the mob leader.
“Victor, have some respect. Lucy was a kind nurse and a good woman.” Falcone said with a disapproving look motioning for the killer to place the eyeballs back into the box.
“Sorry Boss.” Victor said straightening his face as he placed the eyes back in the blue box before sliding it back over to the Don.
“So, will you take the job or not?”

Chapter Three: Tea Party
Letting out a muffled groan Zsasz’ eyes fluttered open; heavy under the weight of the powerful drug he had been given. As he let the light burn his eyes as they opened slowly the assassin mentally slapped himself for letting his guard down for a piece of cake, he really needed to get his sweet tooth looked into.
Casting his eyes to the corner of the room, Zsasz took in his surroundings, he was still in the apartment the smell of baking still filled the air. The room he was in was large, looking down he was strapped to a metal dining room chair – metal bars kept his hands, ankles and neck strapped to the chair – the metal was uncomfortably warm .
Good morning, Good morning,
We’ve talked the whole night through,
Good morning, good morning to you!
Casting a glance to the side, he caught sight of an old vinyl player – the culprit of the strange unsettling music which echoed around the pink room. Zsasz wondered too himself if her entire apartment was themed this way it was far too…girly and pleasant looking – it was quite sickening.
With his remaining energy Zsasz tried to break free of his bonds, earning a laugh from Tara who was watching from the door.
“Yeah, you can’t get out of those bonds unless I want you to Mr Zsasz.” Tara giggled made her way over to the table. Looking up at the woman, Zsasz noticed that she had changed her apron; the previous white frilly apron had been replaced by a baby blue latex looking apron, which was covered in dried blood.
“Did you know that the young Debbie Reynolds had to be carried off set after she finished filming the dance for this song?” Tara asked cheerfully as she cut herself a slice of the sponge cake which had been brought in and set out on the table in front of him.
“She was made to dance for 14 hours and her feet were bleeding.” Tara said, as she took a mouthful of the cream cake and gave a moan of contentment, relishing in her triumph of a dessert.
“Singing in the rain – wonderful film.” Tara mused as she perched herself on the table beside Zsasz crossing her legs enough that the assassin could get a slight glimpse of the white silk tops of her stockings making him slightly uncomfortable in his current position. Something strange about an attractive young woman and the prospect of being quite seriously hurt left the seasoned assassin with a conflict of feeling.
“Do you like musicals Mr Zsasz?” She asked with a smirk knowing full well her question would go unanswered.
Zsasz wondered to himself if this woman was real or if he was having some really fucked up dream, he had nightmares – someone in his line of work could only be expected to suffer in the privacy of his own home. His mind and the things he had seen privy to only himself during the still, cold hours of the night it was then, where his ghosts came to life.
“No? I admit they’re not for everyone.” Tara chuckled as she took another mouthful of cake without showing any signs of collapsing as he had Zsasz groaned as he realized it wasn’t the cake that poisoned him…it was the fork – Tara was eating her slice with a small silver fork where as he had been offered a gold fork, putting two and two together he assumed his fork must have been laced with a potent drug.
Putting his hypothesis on standstill as the room filled with a muffled scream, tutting to herself Tara placed her plate and fork down on the white linen tablecloth and left the room for a few moments, raising his brow at the muffled screams and banging which followed the brunettes exit.
“Mr Zsasz…May I introduce Nurse Lucy.” Tara’s sing song voice echoed from door. Zsasz couldn’t help but laugh through his gag as the petite doll-like female dragged in the flailing nurse. The middle aged woman was chubby her greying hair a mess curled and pulled up on top of her head. Her uniform was drenched in blood which the assassin assumed had spilled down her uniform after her eyes were removed…
Tara let out a little sigh of exasperation as she propped the nurse up into a chair and tied her town, the larger woman was quite obviously sedated enough not to fight back to her full potential – not that it would matter very much.
“You know, it is rude to speak with your mouth full!” Tara mused as she plopped herself on the nurses lap with a smile, her attention now focused on the older nurse with the bloodied bandaged eyes.
“What were you saying?” Tara chuckled as she moved the silk scarf from the older woman’s mouth, before wrapping it around her own neck and tying a pretty bow and pulling up a silver plate to check her reflection.
Zsasz watched silently as the living doll checked her reflection in the mirror, it was a sight to see – he had never come across anyone with this level of apathy. She clearly did not care about the wailing or the screams that poured from her nurse’s mouth. Humming nonchalantly to the songs which played in the background Tara played with her hair and made sure her makeup had not moved. Zsasz couldn’t help but find himself oddly drawn to the psychotic woman, he didn’t know if it was her porcelain doll appearance contrasting so heavily with the blood stains on her apron or the fact that she was so enthralled by the blood and violence – he had never come across a woman this derailed before and aroused the assassin more than it scared or confused him.
“Let me go please! I have children!” Lucy screamed as she tried to break free from her bonds much to the amusement of her capture who giggled and stood up off of the nurses lap.
“Lucy, Lucy, Lucy…Why would I do that? You are a liability.” Tara sung as she moved behind the nurse and gently ran her gloved hands over the nurse’s shoulders making her wince and sob silently.
“I can’t have you gallivanting off and telling all of Gotham about what has happened here tonight can I?” Tara said happily as she turned her attention back to Zsasz with a bright smile motioning at her female captive, almost hoping he would share her amusement at Lucy plea for freedom.
“I won’t tell anyone I promise!” Lucy cried out her voice breaking midsentence as she chocked back blood and spit. “People always lie when they are scared Lucy – its human nature.” Tara chuckled as she picked up one of the silver knives in front of her stroking the blunt silver down the nurses face making her wiper.
“Would you like some cake?” Tara asked sweetly walking over and cutting out a slice of cake and placing it in front of the blind woman.
“My uncle likes to keep me hidden. He is ashamed of me you see.” Tara mused out loud as she turned back to Zsasz who was sat watching the scene unfold.
“I have seen how your uncle loves you!” Lucy cried out in a failed attempt to snap the psychotic woman out of whatever she was thinking at that point.
“You can’t see anything Lucy.” Tara howled as she unwrapped the blood stained bandages from the woman’s eyes, letting the restrained assassin see – for the first time, the extent of the damage the young woman had done.
“Isn’t she funny?” Tara giggled happily clapping her hands in delight as she looked over to Zsasz, clearly very happy with her work.
“Now Lucy, I didn’t say he didn’t love me. I said he is ashamed – there is a difference.” Tara sighed as she looked down at the nurses hands that had begun shaking under the pressure, clearly annoying the woman standing next to her.
Zsasz watched silently as Tara lost composure for the first time, her victims nails tapping against the metal chair out of tune with the music.
“Stop moving your hands!” Tara roared as she snatched a fork from the table and stabbed Lucy’s hand making her shriek.
“If you are going to tap you can at least tap in tune.” Tara said darkly before sighing and shaking her head gently, composing herself one more.
“Did you know pigs if left hungry enough, can eat a whole human carcass?” Tara giggled as she pulled a knife from the table and started grinding it between the nurses knuckles earning another scream.
“I don’t keep pigs you see. I prefer smaller pets.” Tara continued as she twisted the knife dislocating one knuckle at a time. “I keep rats you see – they’ve got a bad reputation but they are smart little things and when they are hungry…well, they will eat anything. They ate the last four nurses I had.” Tara chuckled as she moved onto the other hand.
“And they will eat you, when I am done with you – isn’t that great Lucy? You always wanted to help people and you are helping me. Rat food is full of poison nowadays and well, my babies like raw meat – it is better for them and well, I don’t like the meat industry…”
It was an oddly satisfying thing to watch, a woman crying with no eyes – it was unique Zsasz had to give this woman credit. She was good at inflicting pain in the most distinctive ways, if he wasn’t under contract to watch over her he might have offered her a job – but he wasn’t in any fit position to offer at this time.
Looking down at his cuffs, he felt the drugs begin to fade out of his system – he was gaining back his strength slowly, diverting his attention away from the two women the assassin tried to figure out a way to get the upper hand back from this situation.
Lollipop, lollipop Oh lolli lolli lolli, lollipop
Call my baby lollipop Tell you why His kiss is sweeter than an cherry pie and when he does his shaky rockin’ dance Man, I haven’t got a chance
“Oh one moment please – I know it is rude to pick up a call at the table.” Tara smiled as she removed her gloves carefully and folded them before stuffing them into Lucy’s eye sockets, making even Zsasz wince and look away.
“Hold those for me sweetie.” Tara chuckled as she moved over the cabinet on the far side of the room and picked up her mobile phone, motioning for everyone to be silent.
“Hi, Barbara! How are you?” Tara exclaimed happily as she leaned up against the wall and smirking at Zsasz, who was both afraid and deeply aroused.
“HELP! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP US!” Lucy screamed, shaking her chair so much that it toppled over onto the cream carpet, spilling blood onto the soft fabric.
“What was that hun? I need to put my TV on mute one minute…” Tara chuckled as she picked up one of the marble candlestick holders from beside her, leaving her mobile on the cabinet Tara skipped over to Lucy before straddling her waist. “I will take these back.” Lucy chuckled before removing the gloves from her eyes and smashing the candlestick base into the nurse’s skull.
Zsasz watched with a manic smile as the young woman smashed the metal against Lucy’s skull, over and over until there was little left but a puddle. Giggling as she stood up, Tara picked up a silver plate to check her face which was now covered in blood.
“How do I look?” She chuckled as she stood up dusting herself off before heading back over to the cabinet and picking up the phone once more.
“Sorry Barbara hun I have guests over and they’re watching this really gory horror movie…it’s horrible; I don’t know how people watch this! How can people just kill without remorse?” Tara said with mock disgust as she walked over to an intercom on the wall and pressed a code in.
“Ok, TV is off. Go on.” Tara said as she watched three men in white suits walk into the room, their faces covered by plastic rat masks.Motioning towards the body on the floor Tara walked out the room and left Zsasz blinking at the events that he had just witnessed.
“Yes of course I am free this weekend. I don’t think there will be anything keeping me away…”
Zsasz could hear a murmur of the conversation Tara was having on her phone but the assassin was more interested in the rat men that were wrapping the nurse’s corpse in plastic before lifting her up and leaving the room.
“I’m baaaack!” Tara sang as she totted back into the dining room with a smile, pulling out the metal chair Zsasz was sat on the brunette perched herself on his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Zsasz didn’t know what to do with himself, he was not used to being the one being taunted – that was his game, he played it well and he was shocked about how much he liked being the one being toyed with.
“Let me take this off for you.” Tara purred as she untied the scarf from behind his head and folded it before placing it onto the table before turning back around and gently running her nail down the assassin’s neck.
“I heard you were a bit of a sadist Mr Zsasz. Did you like my little show?”
