Make-up artist Dick Smith transforms the adorable 13 year old Linda Blair into the demonically possessed Regan MacNeil - a process which usually took 3 to 4 hours. To pass the time, Linda would often watch TV in the reflection of the mirror, with one of her favourite shows to watch on set being The Flying Nun.
Rather than using a full face mask, of which many were tested and ultimately scrapped, Smith opted for partial latex appliances to create the gangrenous wounds and exaggerate parts of Linda’s face whilst still keeping the young actress recognizable under all the make-up.

I think I’ve just lost my faith at this moment, so I no longer believe in God or hell. As I don’t believe in hell, I’m not afraid. And without fear I’m capable of anything.
let’s face it, Dad, it’s not for the sake of art. It’s because you want to feel relevant again. Well, there’s a whole world out there where people fight to be relevant every day. And you act like it doesn’t even exist! Things are happening in a place that you willfully ignore, a place that has already forgotten you. I mean, who are you? You hate bloggers. You make fun of Twitter. You don’t even have a Facebook page. You’re the one who doesn’t exist. You’re doing this because you’re scared to death, like the rest of us, that you don’t matter. And you know what? You’re right. You don’t. It’s not important

I wish I didn’t care about anything. But I do care. I care about everything too much. Palo Alto (2014) dir. Gia Coppola
Some men are coming to kill us. We’re going to kill them first.
