he’d been calm until the stranger raised the gun toward him, and then panic struck his features and he raised his hands up close to his face in surrender— one last desperate attempt to convince the man that he wasn’t going to turn at any moment and try to eat him.
“—the people i was with turned on me, okay?! they thought i killed one of our own and were pretty pissed about it considering we have enough to worry about with the zombies, and they tried to kill me for it. they let me go, but not before they all got a few hits in. i haven’t been bitten. do you need to check me for bite marks or what?”
tallahassee considered his argument for a few tense seconds, finger still perfectly positioned to bring the bloodied teen to an abrupt end, before finally lowering his weapon. he shrugged one broad shoulder and cocked his head in agreement.
"makes sense,” he admitted, and his stance relaxed, legs spreading to shoulder width while one worn hand settled on his hip. “hell, i ain’t even met you before, an’ i’d STILL punch you. can’t put my finger on it, but y’ seem like an asshole.”
he’d blame the kid’s face before he’d consider his own nature as the culprit.
