      Tamao hadn’t been, though, so she refrains from going into much further detail - lest she speak about things she knows almost nothing about and make herself seem foolish. She does wonder, at times, why she hadn’t been given to Kino, of course, but...

      “Lord Mikihisa and Lord Yohmei are a different story, though, yes. I was brought into the house at the age of four, and since then you have been the only other student either of them have bothered with.”

      “Ponchi and Conchi have both served the Asakura house for over four hundred years. They were given to me by Lord Yoh’s father and grandfather for my studies. They are embarrassing and they are can be perverse, but they are mine. I would... thank you not to judge them too harshly, Ryu.” They have kept her out of trouble when possible, haven’t they? When it mattered most, they were there for her. When she had no one else, she had them. When even young Yoh had not considered her (or anyone else) his friend, she had them.

      “They are more protective of me than I think they enjoy letting on. They are hard on me and trick me because... I think they want me to start moving forward, too. It must be sad, belonging to such a weak and timid girl since she was four years old.”

HC - AMBIDEXTROUS.

Tamao is seen here holding her over soul bow with her right hand, with would have made her left handed - because a bow is held most traditionally with your non-dominant hand so that you can use your dominant hand (in Tamao’s case as shown here, the left) to pull back the string with more force than if you were using your non-dominant one.

But she is also seen at multiple points in the manga using her right hand without any trouble, such as to hold a sword or to use her notepad, which would make one assume she is instead right handed.

So, it is my headcanon that Tamao is ambidextrous, capable of using both hands interchangeably and with ease. She may have personal preferences and habits for which hand she uses for different tasks - for example, if she learned how to sword fight with her right hand, it may simply be out of habit that she only uses her right for it.

When you’re four years old and being raised by the most powerful shamanic family in all of Japan, you tend to take to politeness very quickly. She hadn’t wanted them to get sick of her and send her away, even if she knows now that such fears had been very childish. She had even misjudged Ryu and Manta in the name of the Aakura family, she had threatened them with very real injury... all on misconception and a horrible prank by her spirits!! “If not for anything else, for almost attacking you. If Anna hadn’t shown up... well, I’m happy. That she did. That I didn’t end up hurting anyone.”
