Final Packaging Project!
Brand story: Honeysicle is for everyone of every age to enjoy! We are a family owned company who goes the extra mile to make sure all of the ingredients are 100% all natural. This also means that our cows are fed with the most high quality feed that you can find and we have employees who make sure that the milk that is produced is processed correctly and most importantly, hormone free. Our brand is unique because of the one ingredient that changes the flavor, texture and most importantly, the saccharinity and that one ingredient is raw honey. As I grew older, the sweet tooth I once had for ice cream was disappearing but was curious to know if others had the same issue. Therefore, I started asking around and realized that it is very normal for people to not have the same craving for desserts. They all told me that they used to love eating ice cream or some other dessert but can hardly eat it anymore because it is simply too sweet. Therefore, I came up with the idea to replace the sugar that is commonly used in ice cream and popsicles with honey. Honey is most commonly used as a healthier replacement for sugar but it also can tone down the sweetness of the desert all together.
Research: Honey is used as a key ingredient for a variety of different types of food and beverages such as cereal, yogurt, snack or protein bars, and beer. Honey is societies’ favorite natural sweetener. It also has a bunch of health benefits including, treating ulcers and helping with colds and throat irritation as well acting as a sleeping remedy.
USP: What separates our brand from other ice cream brands is the honey. Raw honey is a natural syrup that is produced by bees and it has a ton of healthy benefits such as helping with allergies, colds and is also a good sore throat remedy. While raw honey has a few health benefits, it is also a great replacement for sugar. Most people would rather honey over sugar because it satisfies their sweet tooth without being overbearing and parents are more willing to let their children have ice cream that is made with honey instead of sugar because of the health benefits.
Audience: This product is for everyone to enjoy. All men, women, and children who are open to trying a healthier ice cream option.

Gender Specific Products?
In today's world, almost everything is gender-specific. Most of us were taught about the roles we are supposed to play in everyday life as a kid. For example, the men go to work to support his family and the wife stays home to keep the house clean and help the children with schoolwork among other things. This world is slowly turning their gender-biased thoughts around but some things may never change if we do not bring attention to the problem in big business corporations. Someone brought my attention to the way children's products are being marketed during a presentation. Most products are very gender-biased. In this way, I mean that products for girls are usually pink or purple and for boys, blue, green, or red. This is a problem for the way we are raising our children. Girls believe that they cannot play with hot wheels because of the way the package and product are colored and vice versa. In today's world, parents are being criticized if they let their little boy play with a barbie or their little girl play with a Nerf gun. In school, kids bully each other for playing with a toy meant for the opposite gender. Of course, some girls do like to make jewelry and play with barbies instead of playing with hot wheels and nerf guns but that does not apply to everyone. The font companies put on the packaging is vastly different also. The font on the toys that are directed towards little boys, is in all caps and very bold, san-serif typeface. The toys that are directed to little girls are usually in lowercase and usually in a serif typeface. Of course, I understand that this is just good marketing but in the long run, it is not healthy for the mind. Naturally, children look at the colors and even the text even if they do not realize it. This not only applies to children's products but also products for adults too and a lot of us are fooled by it. If you were to go walk down the aisle that holds deodorant, toothpaste, shaving products, etc. You would see that everything is separated by gender. The floral scented deodorant is marketed towards women and if you look at the packaging, it is designed to direct women's eyes toward the product by incorporating a floral design with a serif typeface. The deodorant for men has more of a musty scent followed by a very slick design while also using a san serif font. When looking at razors for women, they usually have a pink, baby blue, or yellow hue. While razors for men have a black, red, or navy blue hue. These are just a couple of examples of how products for adults are separated by gender when it seems like that is something we should have grown out of. This is a problem in our society. Companies should be trying to neutralize gender roles, not separate them even more. Every day, a little boy is being bullied by his friends for playing with his sister's barbie or even picking flowers out in the yard. Every day, a little girl is being bullied by her friends because they found out she likes to play video games and roll around in the dirt. Every day we let companies believe what they are doing, is okay because we are not speaking up about the long term effects these products are creating.

Creative thinking is a skill that helps us solve not only work related problems but also everyday dilemmas. In definition, creative thinking is looking at the problem at hand in a different light and trying to solve it by avoiding orthodox solutions. (inkbot design) Believe it or not, we practice this skill almost everyday and it does not just pertain to designers. This certain skill pertains to every career.
From a young age we were all told to think outside of the box when it felt like there was no solution to the problem at hand. As we have grown older, we have learned that in order to come up with new solutions, sometimes we just need to take a step back in order to generate new possibilities. Every now and then the best solution might be the one that sounds the craziest. How are we able to come up with such unconventional ideas? A lot of people believe that it comes from different experiences we have had in the past and have implemented into our new possible solutions, which is correct to a point. Creative thinking is a skill that most of us have continued to develop our entire lives. Most companies require employees to have this certain skill because of how valuable and necessary it is in order to have a successful company.
Something to always remember is, there are a million possible solutions to one problem, we just have to be able to open our minds up in order to take in all of those possible solutions. One step to thinking creatively is asking questions. Wondering why does something work that specific way and wondering if there is another way that it can be used and how. Creative thinking is all about taking risks. Something that holds a lot of people back from reaching their full potential is the fear of looking or sounding unintelligent. Which is also why it is helpful to know how things fit or work together beforehand in order to make a solution. As a creative thinker, we need to be able to take criticism from others and be flexible enough to change the way we work and think. In design, our job is mainly to think of fresh new ideas; something no one has ever thought of before and to turn it into a reality. Sometimes, interesting ideas do not come to us in one sitting. Therefore, some things we can do to think of more creative ideas, is to combine different words together, taking a shower, sleeping, people watching, write out everything that comes to your mind at that moment, and look at random images. (examples of creativity)
As we all know now, creative thinking is not a skill we are born with, it is simply something we have all developed and worked on over time. “It’s about facing sometimes muddy and unclear problems and seeing how “things” can be done differently—how new solutions can be imagined.” (creative thinking skills) This is a skill everyone needs to have in order to be successful in their career.

Tumblr Tuesday: Looking at Things through Other Things
Sketchbook (@feliciachiao)
A bit of advice from this illustration: Gently hold your sweetest, most menacing friend and enjoy the sunrise together.
Phase Notes (@phasenote)
…Or taunt your least menacing enemies through the safety of a different (closed) window.
Uwhe-arts (@uwhe-arts)
…Or look through a hole in a rock, standing alone in a desert, and happen to see a plane hurtling through the sky at breakneck speed. Think about where they’re going and where they’re coming from and how many of them are happy. Spend the rest of your day wondering where you’re going and where you’ve come from. Decide it doesn’t matter, not as long as you get to spend time watching sunrises with as many friends in as many places as possible. Not as long as you’re happy.
Pictogram!
For my zoo pictograms, I will be doing a design for an alligator, narwhal whale, angler fish, and a turtle. The actual design for my posters will be a tad bit animated and simplistic while also accentuating the details of the animal that make it different from the rest. I plan to make these pictograms visually pleasant for both children and adults.
