“I’m not entirely sure how I feel about being a teacher.” Alexander mused, tapping his fingers against his desk. “I was the Head of the New York Institute…I sat at a desk or went on missions. Why aren’t there any demons here? Come on?!”

“Demons? Ha!” the man sitting across from him in the teachers lounge chuckled. “I wish there were demons. Give me a good old fashioned hell portal for some to crawl out of and do some bad things. But no, this place is rather... plain. Whatever you were head of before, and we’ve all had those big titles... this place is not that and you’ll have to find something new.”

Violet was starting to heavily regret Everly as her choice for college. Mainly due to the man behind and everyone else like him. “Personal space. You’re a little too close, dickwad.” A hand going to take out her earbuds, the cord winding around her neck to properly respond with the full use of her very colorful vocabulary. “I’m already where I’m not supposed to be. If I fall, I fall.” Violet headed over to the broken banister, dramatically throwing her legs over the edge. A light kick to her legs as she turned to the man, shoes rhythmically hitting the wooden planks. “So I broke the rules, happy now?”

“No, you haven’t plummeted to your death and ended up in my domain quite yet, but I’m sure the day will come soon enough...” Lucifer replied with a now disinterested look at the girl as he took a few more steps down. “But if you do fall, make sure it just snaps your neck or something so completely. Hate to end up with you meandering in some vegetative state for too long where I can’t get a hold of you.” He shook his head, going down the steps. “Seems like a common problem nowadays...”

Violet laid on one of the steps of the grand staircase, eyes closed as her earbuds pumped heavy guitars and melancholy lyrics into her head. It was truly one of her favorite places in the school now. Not many others knew where she knew to step to survive the compromised stairs. Most didn’t even want to follow her up, the caution tape a deterrent enough. Violet snorted, crossing her legs at the ankles. It was as much a warning against her as it was for the stairs. It was nice to have no one bother her. Violet didn’t need people.

At least, that’s what she kept telling herself. Maybe one of these days she’d start believing it.

“I know that look,” came a voice from over her shoulder - seeming to effortlessly push past the earbuds and music to be very clear directly in her mind. “You’re thinking ‘ahh, it says ‘don’t go there, don’t do that’... but I can do it, right?” The figure stepped up beside her, tall and lean, dark features and slightly sinister grin. “Most people don’t. They think they can disobey the rules, exercise some ‘free will’ and do what they want. But then they chicken out and cower in place, towing the line of a ‘good citizen’ or whatever.” He turned to her, eyes dark and irises pitch black. “So what are you? A good citizen? Or one of those ones who will give into that temptation... and do what you really want to do?”

“FUCK.” the words are out of jason’s mouth before he could process his thoughts. his hands wipe at his split lip, taking in the sight of blood on his thumb before drawing his bottom lip into his lip and sucking away from the sting of injury. “what fuckingdipshit leaves a broken glass for someone to use in a bar?” he gives a look of accusation at the bartender and releases his lip. “if i wanted to go back to the fucking grave, i would have fucking asked for bleach as a drink - not macallan.”

“Ooh... I have to agree with you there,” Lucifer replied with a nod of his head. He found one of the less dirty dishrags by leaning over the counter and then brought it back, passing it onto the other. “Maybe they’ve had their license revoked. Or maybe they’re just not caring who they serve or what they serve it in?” Now something the young man said did catch his attention and his head looked to the other. “...back to the grave, you said? Been there already? You don’t smell like fresh peat moss or formaldehyde...”

“If that opportunity comes along, dear Edgar, I’m sure there will be a longer line to beat the shit out of that person than when the last big summer blockbuster came out,” Lucifer nodded. “I would love to just punish them for a very long time. I’d find some very creative ways to make their darkest, dirtiest moments come back to haunt them and insure they know the grievous error of fucking with me. Pardon my French,” Lucifer added, waving a finger from his drink in the air. “You know, this miracle liquid is quite nice. A depressant, but it seems to pick most up. Imagine what humanity would be like if you never got around to fermenting grapes? I remember when sura was invented. Surely it was going to be the devil’s concoction and corrupt the world. How right they were,” he mused, taking another sip of his drink.

His eyes stayed deep in the brunette’s. There was something about her. Something not quite normal. His pheromones never failed to entice the human being into some sort of unquestionable attraction to him, and his gaze peeled back everything else and made them want to tell him their dirtiest, darkest desires. But she was contemplating things and from what he could see in her dark eyes - she wasn’t sure. “I suppose the first step is realizing you don’t know, then,” he said with a nod, taking a sip of his drink. “...it’s much easier to find what you seek. Now you mention new town, new job, new chapter. We’re all in that boat, after all. Some roll out there and try and take over. Others just sit back and coast, waiting for whatever happened to un-happen to us. A few try to irk out a life here, of course, but who knows when someone you’re getting close to might just vanish from existence, right?” he asked, snapping his fingers to indicate the fragility of what they had. His head tilted, looking the leggy brunette up and down for a moment. She’d be delicious, he knew. “I’m sorry, I should keep my manners, right? Lucifer Morningstar,” he said, putting his right hand out to the woman. “And to whom do I have the pleasure of spending time with?”

Diana has just returned back to her seat at the bar from the restrooms. Her eyes scanned the more crowded place with curiosity. It was as filled as it was now when she had first arrived but of course it was getting later during the evening snd a more appropriate time for arrivals. So many bodies, so many different personalities. Diana’s mind still had trouble at times processing now different her people were from this. Hearing a deep, accented voice speak beside her caught her attention and Diana found herself staring at a handsome fellow. Probably not that much older than she was. By looks she meant. “Thank you. I appreciate the kind gesture. A dry martini would be fine.” She stated towards the bartender with a smile as she watched them make it. It wasn’t long before both their drinks were placed in front of them. Diana held the dainty martini glass in her hands, clinking her glass to his as she starred at him over the brim of her glass. “This place seems too much off the radar for anything to come for me. But I never but anything past impossible anymore. You have no idea the trouble I’ve gotten into thinking I could find a sense of calmness in this world.” She took a small sip of her drink, keeping the glass in her hands.

“Martini for the lady,” Lucifer said to the bartender with a nod, then turning his attention back to her. So pretty, beautiful in a most unusual way. She had an elegance about her that just subtly covered an underlying sexuality. Or perhaps it was that she had the most impressive legs he’d seen in a long time. As the drinks were delivered, he tapped his own to hers and then took a sip. “Oh really? You’d be surprised, my capacity to believe those things others don’t is rather high. Why don’t you try me, darling?” he asked, putting his chin up on his palm as he sat down beside her. “Finding ‘calmness’ anywhere is a relatively difficult thing in my opinion. You can hope, plot and plan, but those little chaotic balls of human will always come into play and the best laid plans of mice and angels...” he smiled, looking into her eyes. “Though I am curious what you’re looking for... what your deepest desires are?”

“Ahh the non virginal sacrifice... how’s tricks and spells?” he asked her with a raised eyebrow. The man let out a hint of a grin from a corner of his mouth as she asked about the little issue with the fake version of a ‘dark lord’. “I admit I’ve been rather distracted from pursuing it as ardently as I should,” he said, lacing his fingers together around his drink glass as he looked off into the mirror behind the bar. “I did have one of my people hunt down a few minor demons and send back to the Abyss in a most unpleasant manner,” he told her with a nod, the tone more like they were recounting the daily news of going to grocery store for bread. “Word in the ether is that you’re sealing that va-jay-jay with one man forever, is that true?”
