Keening was a legendary blade crafted by the Dwemer chief tonal architect Lord Kagrenac. It was one of the three Tools of Kagrenac that were used to tap into the power of the Heart of Lorkhan. Its role was to “flay and focus the power that rises from the heart”.
In 4E 201, Keening was delivered to Skyrim by the request of the mage Arniel Gane of the College of Winterhold. He attempted the recreate the circumstances that resulted in the disappearance of the Dwemer race by using Keening on a warped soul gem, which resulted in his own disappearance.

After the disappearance of the Dwemer, marking the end of the Battle of Red Mountain, Nerevar sought the advice of the Tribunal, who were then his advisors, on the handling of Kagrenac’s Tools and the Heart of Lorkhan.
The Tribunal proposed that the Tools should be kept for the welfare of the Chimer people. However, Nerevar was hesitant to agree and imposed a condition that they swear an oath to Azura to never use the Tools as the Dwemer had.
For years, the oath was upheld, but in secret, Sotha Sil studied Kagrenac’s Tools, and eventually foresaw a new world of peace with the Tribunal as its rulers.
Together, the Tribunal journeyed to the Red Mountain and used Kagrenac’s Tools to unlock the powers of the Heart of Lorkhan. Soon after, Azura cursed the Tribunal for their betrayal by turning the skin of every Chimer to the color of ash and their eyes into fire. Thus, the Chimer people were remade into the Dunmer.

Dwemer Sans Mono is a sans-serif, monospaced TrueType font based on the runic script of the Dwemeri alphabet.

The language of the Dwemer, sometimes called Dwemeris, uses an alphabet that consists of 28 letters, 26 of which correspond to the letters of the Latin alphabet, and 2 special letters: one of which denotes that a letter should be read as a number, the other marks the beginning of a sentence and that the letter is capitalized.
The positions of some letters may be contentious and speculative, and the pronunciations of the runes, as illustrated on the second graphic, do not officially appear in the games, and is from a design document circa TES Adventures: Redguard.

The Aurbis, the universe of The Elder Scrolls can be separated into five distinct layers:
Nirn, the heart of the Aurbis, home to Tamriel.
Mundus is the mortal plane that contains Nirn and the planets of the eight Aedra.
Oblivion is the space outside Mundus, and is home to the 16 Daedric Princes and myriad other pocket realms including the Soul Cairn.
Aetherius, the immortal plane. It is where the et’ada, the original spirits who later became the Aedra and Daedra came from. Magicka radiates from the stars and the sun to Nirn.
The Void is literal nothingness and emptiness outside the Aurbis.

Similar to Lorkhan, the time god that is commonly known as Akatosh in the Empire may possess different qualities, and be viewed differently to different cultures.
The Elven Auri-El represents the beginning of time, while the Nordic Alduin represents the end of time. Alkosh is the Khajiiti aspect, while the Imperial Akatosh is the result of the Marukhati Selectives removing the Elven influences from their time god, resulting in the Middle Dawn: 1008 years of un-time.

Although the exact beginnings of the Aurbis are unclear and contradictory between the various creation myths of the races, most of them agree that eventually, two “beings” either arose from an earlier being, or that the second one was created by or split from the first.
They represent the forces of Stasis and Change, and were known as Anu and Padomay according to the Annotated Anuad, although other races have different names for them: Ahnurr and Fadomai to the Khajiit, Satak and Akel to the Redguards.

In the Aurbis, the constellations number 13, each corresponding to a month of the year; all except the Serpent. The Mage, the Warrior, and the Thief protect each of their charges from the shifty Serpent.

The Aldmeri Dominion and Racial Phylogeny on TES Lore Illustrated updated and adapted to be 2 new desktop backgrounds up to 8K resolution (7,680 x 4,320).

According to the in-game book Racial Phylogeny, the child or children from an interracial pairing will almost always inherit the mother’s race, which is possibly why persons of mixed-blood are almost unheard of in Tamriel.
A brief timeline to illustrate when each of the three Aldmeri Dominions were established, and how long each of them spanned throughout time. The original Dominion likely did not span all the way until 2E 830, when the second Dominion was established, but it is not known when it was dissolved or had collapsed. The second Dominion was the shortest-lived, cut short by Tiber Septim’s conquest at the end of 2E. And the third, and most contemporary Aldmeri Dominion was established over an era after its previous, using the chaos and destruction of the Oblivion Crisis to establish a foothold in the Summerset Isles, and eventually its surrounding neighbors.

A brief timeline to illustrate how long each of the Cyrodiilic empires spanned throughout time. The Alessian Empire lasted the longest, spanning two millennia. Even accounting for the Middle Dawn, it lasted several hundred years longer than the second and third empires, which can each be split into two distinct time periods. By 4E 201, the third empire is a shadow of its former self and its future uncertain.
