Tessa folded her arms around herself tightly as she let the silence swell. He was making some sense. Still, she just barely met the man and wasn’t too sure if he was even the person she wanted to get to know. But it really was inevitable. She’d have to at some time. “I am not hungry.”

— “ listen, ” rabastan paused. he knew it wasn’t ideal, but going against his parents wasn’t really what proper pureblood children did. so he’d agreed to the betrothal, not that he had much choice, anyways. “ we should get dinner or something, ” he said. “ get to know each other so that we’re not miserable, ” rabastan said. “ it doesn’t have to be now. but, wouldn’t it help if we’re at least friends ? ”

“Mamaie says”, the dark haired girl purred, her accent think as she tried to recite the speech her grandmother gave her when she protested the arrangement. “You don’t need to know someone in order to marry them. It’s a business arrangement more then anything. You don’t have to particularly like each other, you just need to fulfill your duties to the world. There is no room for love in marriage, love just makes things messy and complicated. Look what...” Tess stopped. Look what good it did your father. She let out a sigh, feeling the sadness fill her heart the longer she stood before the man. Ever since she was little, she dreamed of having what her parents did. Being so deeply in love that you’d give your life for the other. But now, that was nothing but a pipe dream. “There is no point, I just have to tolerate you and you tolerate me.

“Home”, the girl said her answer short and to the point, hoping for Rastaban to bugger off. It wasn’t that she found his company vexing, but more that she hated the situation they found themselves in. After all, how was she supposed to feel being told she was going to marry someone she barely even knew?

— “ little jumpy today, hm ? ” rabastan arched an eyebrow. “ i tapped your shoulder, that’s hardly an assault, ” he scoffed. “ anyways, you’re not exactly defenceless, ” rabastan glanced at her wand for a moment, smirking. “ where’re you headed ? ” 

Tess glared at the boy. “And how is that any of your business?”

— rabastan was on his way out of one of the shops in knockturn alley when he spotted tessa. he jogged over to where she was, tapping her shoulder lightly. he stepped back, hands in the air when she whipped her wand around at him. “ woah, relax, it’s just me, ” he exclaimed. “ i didn’t mean to startle you, sorry, tessa, ” rab apologised.

“What in the bloody hell is wrong with you”, she scolded the older boy, her brows arching in irritation. Tessa lowered her wand but kept a tight grip on it. “Do you assault teenage girls regularly, or is it a new hobby you’ve picked up recently?”

The dark haired girl wrapped her arms around herself as the hairs on the back on her neck stood on end. Even though she hailed from a prestigious pure blood family, Knockturn Alley was still a dodgy place. Especially for petite teenage girl. Feeling the slightest touch on her shoulder Tessa whipped around, wand at the ready. “Don’t touch me”, she growled in her native tongue.

— “ shite, sorry, tessa, ” rabastan reaching out to stop her from falling. usually, he was better at paying attention to where he was going. but he had been so focused on getting away from the restaurant and any chance of them chasing after him that he hadn’t paid attention. “ er, we should probably get out of here, ” he muttered. “ you can yell at me after, ” he grabbed her shoulders and apparated them away from the restaurant. “ so… i might have pissed off the waitstaff. in my defense, they weren’t doing their jobs, though, ” he stated in explanation when they landed in front of a bar he liked in knockturn alley.

Apparition was something Tess had never been a fan of, not even when she did it herself, but Rabastan had taken a hold of her so quickly there was no time for protest. Before she knew it the girl felt as if she was both being pressed under giant’s foot and being nearly pulled apart. Finally, after what felt like eternity, the pressure was gone with a final pop one that left the girl collapsing to the ground.

— overall, the restaurant had been more than disappointing. the food had been mediocre at best, the waiter had offered him a second drink for free, when the current drink had still been almost full and he’d been basically done with his food, and it had taken twenty minutes to get water. really, he should have taken that as a sign to just leave. but he’d stayed, not really wanting to cook, and he was avoiding his mother, who insisted on letting the house elves do all of the cooking, which would have been fine if he didn’t have to then sit with his parents at dinner. 

   but even that would have been better than this. he sighed, glancing around. he’d asked for more water about twenty minutes ago, and since none of the waitstaff had bothered to come out from the kitchen since then, he figured he could just leave instead of waiting around. so he got up, made his way across the room, and slipped out the door. he was about halfway down the block when he heard someone shouting after him that he hadn’t paid. he ignored them, turning the corner and colliding with someone.

   “ shit, sorry, ” rabastan apologized. it was a rare sight, him actually apologizing for causing a collision, but he wasn’t in the mood to cause an argument over who had run into who. “ if you see the guy around the corner yelling about someone not paying, kindly tell him that you didn’t see anyone, yeah ? ”

Teetering atop the tall heels Tessa clung to the person in which she’d collided with. It didn’t matter if it was the Dark Lord, Dumbledoor, hell even her dreadful cousin Bella, any of them was better then her loosing her balance and tumbling to the ground. Her hands still clung tight to the arms of his leather jacket as he continued. His voice, it was so familiar. Looking up, the familiar face caught her off guard. “Doamne”, she exclaimed quickly before letting go of the Lestrange boy.

Some days, Tess wished they weren’t. It had nothing to do with Narcissa, or really any of her cousins, and everything to do with her controlling and overbearing monarch of a grandmother. The dark hair sighed before giving up like he’d grown accustomed to when dealing with family. “You are right, I will try harder.”

   her  smile  comes  easy,  placing  a  comforting  hand  on  the  other’s  shoulder.   “  ce n'était pas un problème  !  is  that  all  of  your  stuff  ?  ”   she’ll  scan  their  surroundings,  still  a  bit  peeved  off  that  her  first  time  on  duty  began  like  this.  though,  her  spirits  alleviated  a  bit  knowing  she  now  had  the  power  to  make  sure  things  like  this  happen  less  often.

"Um”, the dark haired girl stood before the older one confused. This must have been how others felt when she spoke Romanian, but it wasn’t terribly important to point out that she wasn’t speaking French. At least she hoped it wasn’t. “Yeah, this was everything.”
