Brief response on Sabrina and Corrina

After Reading Sabrina and Corrina, I took a moment to think back on other stories that felt similar. Whether fictional or non-fictional like slum-dog millionaire. It is a movie that is about a boy who grew up in the slums with no parents in India witnessing gang voilence, and the branding that comes with the caste system. This boy would go on to win on who wants to be a millionaire by using his challenges that he faced through his young life to answer all of the questions in the show. If theres one thing that all good shows, books, movies , and games have in common, it's that the protagonist faces adversities that create extreme growths in character. This can be seen in the short stories of Sabrina and Corrina in which all the protagonists are on a journey met with challenges like moving somewhere else or being a sex worker trying to start anew with their child.

Hey guys! After reading briefly on some of the short stories for Sabrina and Corrina , I came away with a theme of adversity and being met with harsh challenges to moving or living in some locations. When it comes to local scenarios that fit this, I thought of Globeville, a place in which many artists and the people that lived there celebrate Mexican-American heritage. However, the people that lived there deal with a challenge of being low income and fighting off real estate people who want to keep their art but tear down the community for gentrification purposes. Many of the buildings are historic and represent the heritage of its late 1800s look and Mexican-inspired housing. These brokers want to tear down these homes for "little homes".

My 1 minute performance was created to showcase a tech showcase of the Xbox Series S. The video emulates a "viral" style in which the video is recorded on a phone, with quick comments. much like what one would find in a quick Twitter video to showcase a hot new topic/item/ event. Although it may not look it. I rehearsed quite a few times so that I wouldn't Kimble over my words as much . A live performance in which one showcases a current item/event is a common me Th of of retrieving information within society.

Reading And Film Response 3

Regarding the article made by Terry Barrett article of "Making Art: Form and Meaning 2-1", I was fascinated by the concept of implied motion. One of the examples he used was art created to be an illusion as an example in which one's eyes create the impression of motion, but there is no motion coming from the actual picture. This can be achieved by specific patterns in which the eye naturally wants to complete the image and its contents to form a consistent pattern. Another example that was used was the use of frames to create a concept of events that have already happened. When these frames are put in order and played forward, an animation is created to make a lapse of time occurring. Tempo was another concept that I enjoyed reading about in the article. It is a concept in which the pacing of events is changed throughout the art piece(s) shown to the viewer. This concept can be best exemplified by an art piece that is a kinetic device like a clock in which the tempo is set by a constant of 60 seconds-per-minute and 60 minutes-per-hour. This can also be done via a video in which the passage and intensity of time being implied in the scene shown is determined by tension created from camera angles, editing of multiple shots to a concise story, and the number of frames used.

In Cubitts’ article, “Projection: Vanishing and Becoming”, He talks about how the art of projections, not drawing itself is the origination, forefather of all art-works. He uses an example of people dancing around a campfire to explain the events that have occurred in a recent amount of time. He Also m mentions the use of making shadow puppets, in which the hands or body are contorted in a matter to create specific images as a shadow. He then goes on to use a Buddhist myth in which an artist had to use the reflection of Buddha in water to create one of the first said portraits of his divinity. This had a lot to do with Buddha having an aura so bright it was hard for the artist to draw him. What is interesting about this story is that the artist had never done a portrait before, for it did not exist in that time. And as the story implies, he had to use the projection of Buddha to create one of the first ever portraits of buddha’s divinity.

Generations of Elements.

The passion and strength shown between both tv series(Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra) tells their own story. In “The Last Airbender”, Aang had to fight to restore balance. From what I have compared when watching both series is that in the “legend of Korra” Korra is the change of what balance means as times around her are changing. With the technology becoming more advanced and new element benders are popping up, the level of balance changes. Just like in today’s world, in order for us to find balance, we have to be able to change and adapt.
