TG was a tragedy. TG:re, on the other hand, is a fucked up joke.

Chapter 47 ends with this sentence: “This world is a fucked up joke.” And after thinking about it for a while, I realized that TG:re really is a fucked up joke.

In TG, Takizawa wanted to be strong and to be number one. In TG:re, Takizawa finally got the power he desired but the joke is that he still ISN’T number one, being second best to Kaneki.

In TG, Hinami escaped from the CCG after her family was exterminated and successfully hid for over three years. However, in TG:re, the CCG caught her and the funny part is that she could’ve avoided the situation but went to save Sasaki on her own will.

In TG, Tsukiyama confidently stated that he has “no memories of ever beening broken”. But… in TG:re, not only is he THE MOST broken of them all but his tragedy is on par with Kaneki’s.

In TG, Akira was one of the people that hated ghouls the most. However, in :re, all of her loved ones –Amon, Takizawa, Sasaki– are… half-ghouls.

In TG, Naki almost died saving Gagi and Guge. In :re, Gagi and Guge died for Naki.

In TG, Kaneki had one goal – protect his loved ones. However, now in TG:re, not only does he not remember his loved ones but he has also taken part in the imprisonment of Hinami, the destruction of Tsukiyama’s family and attacked Nishiki.
