More than 2,000 people are missing. Towns are practically wiped off the map. People’s homes have been torched.
That isn’t a scene from a horror movie, it’s the aftermath of a brutal terrorist attack in Nigeria. And few people are talking about it. (via micdotcom)

Just signal boosting. Can’t forget about what’s (currently) going down in Nigeria.

I'm from 312, where cops don't come through and dreams don't come true... from working mcdonalds, barely paying the car note, he even got enough to get his mama a condo then they ran up and shot him right in front of his mom. 40 killings in a weekend, 40 killings in a week

The coolest fucking man
I still love the fry story
This is so accurate. At school, we literally have children who will watch our facial expressions to see if them falling is as bad as they think it might be.
CORRECT CHILD INJURY PROCEDURE:
do not react. at the most, maybe wince and go “ooooh”
go over to the child to assess panic level and severity of injury
if they’re like, dying, remain calm, but they’re probably not.
look them in the eye and ask, “you okay?” they will nod. possibly all teary-eyed. then ask, “are we gonna need to cut it off?”
the child is thrown off. if they giggle, you’re in the money. if they do not, put a bandaid on and do some sympathetic patting. they are probably a little teary. let the sad little bug sit out for a minute. they will quickly get bored.
works every time
"sad little bug" is the cutest and most accurate term ive heard used to describe a child because sometimes bugs are kinda super cute sometimes bugs are really fucking annoying and sometimes bugs are downright TERRIFYING

That is an elephant on a map, as you see. Disguised as a contour. It is an official British Army map that was made in the 1920s, and the soldiers responsible for surveying that part of what is, in fact, the Gold Coast, what we would now call Ghana, just got bored and traced an elephant. They thought it was a very remote part that no one would ever bother to visit and need the map. They drew round a picture in a magazine creating contours in the form of an elephant. The substitution remained undetected for some time and can still be seen on some editions of the map.
