I haven't been on Tumblr for forever, I wish I kept little notes on here about my sons growth for the last 2 years but I didnt.

Its crazy to think that 2 years ago I graduated University, had a baby and am currently raising a little one in a pandemic (thats thankfully ending?) Its weird to think that 2019 was the last normal year. Where you could do anything without having to wear a mask and stay 6ft from the person standing infront of you.

I thought being in a pandemic Leo would grow up extremely shy but to my surprise hes outgoing, friendly and quite chatty. Im thankful restrictions eased up here and there, but im even more thankful for his grandparents who have a huge part in Leos life and helps Leo be more sociable with others.

Last year was not easy but having Leo by my side and watching him grow has been a blessing, getting to spend extra time with him instead of working has been a blessing. Raising him to be the sweet, funny, caring boy has been a blessing. Being able to be there through all his milestones no matter how big or small has been a blessing.

Im truly thankful for all the time I've been able to spend with him. 💙

So we don’t forget....

Today is Monday , April 27, 2020

- We are at 45 days of social isolation.

- The Canadian dollar is worth $ 0.69 US, £0.56 pound and €0.64 euro

- Schools have been closed since mid March and are teaching remotely on-line. This will continue for the rest of the school year.

- There are lines / tapes inside the stores to keep people 6 feet apart.

- Bars and restaurants only for home delivery & pick-up.

- Parks, beaches and walk-in places are not accessible to the public.

- All sports competitions have been cancelled.

- All festivals and entertainment events have been banned.

- Weddings, family celebrations and birthdays have been cancelled. Funerals limited to 5-10 people.

- People are doing drive-by parades to celebrate birthdays!

- Young kids can’t understand why they can only see grandparents & other extended family and friends on a screen or thru a window if someone visits in person.

- Hugs and kisses are not given.

- The churches are closed or online.

- We have to stay away from each other more than a meter.

- Shortage of masks and gloves in hospitals.

- There are fewer ventilators than there should be.

- People are wearing masks, some places even REQUIRE that you wear them to enter! People are even making their own masks for sale or donation to medical facilities!

- Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes and anything Lysol or Clorox is in short supply and limited per person.... IF you can even find them!

- Stores are closing early to disinfect everything. (24 hour stores are even closing by 9pm)

- Store check outs, pharmacies and even fast food drive thru windows have added plexiglass between employee and customer. Have to reach around or under to pay!

- You can't find isopropyl alcohol easily. .. supply per person is limited.

- Canada, Australia, USA and Europe have closed their borders.

- No one is travelling for leisure. Airports empty. Tourism has the worst crisis in history.

Why do I post this?

Next year & then every year after, this status will appear in my Facebook memories feed. It will be an annual reminder that life is precious & that nothing should be taken for granted. We are where we are with what we have, let’s be grateful.

I still don't want to believe it, I can't believe it. You had such a beautiful soul, you helped me through my first year at University. You were my mother away from home, a friend someone to confide in. You were always willing to listen, give advice and you gave the best hugs. You always welcomed me into your office with open arms. I hope your resting peacefully, you are missed. I love you so much and thank you for everything. Thank you for the wonderful talk in your office, the laughs, the hugs and constantly encouraging me to be better, to do better. You never stopped believing in me. I will forever cherish the memories we shared.

Goodbye 2019

As this year slowly comes to a close I can't help but feel extremely grateful. 2019 has been one hell of a year and I don't mean that in a bad way.

The beginning of this year I was still in University and working a part time job as an Assistant Manager at a shoe store. There I met some wonderful people who made work bearable. Once summer came I worked full-time and pretty much became a temporary manager which I hated. Then I found out that there was a little human growing in my tummy. Who would make their arrival March 3rd, 2019.

"Well damn" is what I said in my head when I found out. "What the hell am I going to tell my mom.. Should I tell her? Nah maybe I'll just wait.. maybe I'll just tell her when I find out the gender. Oh crap, what is the school going to say? I'm gunna get kicked out."

Well, I started my last year of University in September and hid my pregnancy up untill I couldn't hide it anymore. I wore baggy clothes all the time and scarfs to hide the tiny bump that was starting to become more visible. I was doing my practicum placement at a Kindergarten School in Blackfalds, AB. My teacher advisor had come in to observe my lesson one day and after I told him that I was expecting. The school was so incredibly supportive. I finished the first semester of my last year of University and completed my first placement ever. I completed the second semester classes but didn't finish my. Second placement.

March 10th 2019 I met my baby boy for the first time. It was the most beautiful feeling I have ever felt. I didn't know you could love something soo much my heart was overflowing.

April 2019 I 'graduated' with my After Degree in Elementary Education. Well close enough, It wouldn't have been possible without the support I got from the Education Staff. Who worked with me so I could complete my practicum at home instead of Alberta and participate in Graduation even though I wasn't officially graduating yet. The school still let me participate in Graduation so I could march with the class I started my after-degree with. So I won't be an official graduate till the end of December.

2019 has been one crazy year. Although it isn't over yet I'm a bit sad it is slowly coming to and end. As cheesy as it sounds, "I truly am excited for what 2020 will bring. I'm excited to create memories with my son, I'm excited to officially be a teacher" .

December 12 I will officially be done my placement which I am excited for. It will give me sometime to stay home and spend more time with my son untill my mat leave is up.

So, although this year isn't over yet 2019 thank you for the beautiful memories.

I know your cries are cues and I'll do whatever it takes

I promise to hold you close when you wake up with bad dreams,

I promise to be patient, learn and grow with you not because it's my motherly duties but because, I love you.

Baby boy, since you've entered our lives you have been nothing but a blessing. I'm amazed at your strength and how much you've grown. When you entered this world my heart burst with love for you. You are truly a blessing from God and I am so grateful to be your mother. I love you.
