The Colonel Mustard would like to congratulate Zach Kloppenborg on winning Mustardian Of The Year! He is a fearless director, singer of Google-translated songs & mastermind behind many on-stage hijinks. If you have a bottle of mustard on your person, just squeeze-pour some on his #blessed head! #2014Mustardawards
Episode 26: with Laura Malcom
A time to renew. We return with our season three installation of TBKaF to explore the gloriously scrupulous pile of Russian pages known as a “supreme achievement in literature,” as cited by Wikipedia experts. Reconvening in our expensive podcast recording studio is Laura Malcom, previously the GIRL-friend of our beloved host, and now the Bride of Philip. (Tweet them a congrats!) After reminiscing about their day of wedded bliss—heralded by one hundred talented recorder players—Phil and Laura expertly navigate the not-so-shallow waters of our characters' loooong journey. Join us as they interpret allegorical names, almost-orgies, passionate kissy-face scenes (narrative only), love slaves, and more PG-13-heavy plot devices. It's still The Brothers Karamazov and Friends, where we laugh because we don't understand some of the words.
TOMORROW. #NewMustardEve
In the grand Mustard tradition, we proudly present not only a party, but a PLAY, this New Year's Eve:
"AS YOU LIKE IT WITH ROBOTS,"
an amazing automatonical adaptation of William Shakespeare's comedic masterpiece! PARTY starts at 9pm, PERFORMANCE begins at 10:30pm. Bring treats and drinks to share, and wear your most festive and futuristic garb. Be prepared to smile, laugh and dance the night away. Come one, come all! This night is destined to be one of the greatest Mustard events of all time...with ROBOTS!
Mustard-Inspired, Last-Minute Costume Ideas
It's Halloween, and your plans to be Astronaut George Clooney from "Gravity" have drifted into thin air. You need a costume idea, pronto.
What a relief to know you can cull from the Mustard's strange mythology of characters and legends to cobble together something amazing! And by "amazing" we mean "wearable."
FOR THE MALES
Robert Muldoon from JPTM3D. That hat with one side up, green utility vest, tan cargo shorts, unbelievable Australian accent, rugged good looks, WHIP, tall socks, hyper-fascination with raptor behavior.
Fyodor Dostoyevsky from Russian Empire. Shortness, permanent scowl, drab suit coat, indecipherable necktie, looooong beard, introversion. For More Fun: Periodically quote Carry Todd's reading of The Brothers Karamazov.
FOR THE LADIES
Potentially Offensive Prairie Person Stereotype:
Card Shark. Large fin and deck of cards. Or, vest, pants, straw hat.
Indian Squaw. Tuft of grass, brown skirt, tribal blanket, blond hair, feather in headband.
Traditional Cornhusker with mask. Unfortunate overalls, "N" decal, braided pigtails. For More Fun: Talk about how annoyed you become when someone calls you a Bugeater.
OR
Norse Goddess. Sparkles, wings, elaborate head ornaments, beaded shawl, unicorn legs, special powers, sheer sleeves, ability to sing hauntingly.
FOR THE LOVERS, ER, TWO PEOPLE
Fox William Mulder. Black suit, white dress shirt, necktie from 1994, floppy hair, rabbit ears, uncanny knack for always being right, twist of dry humor, abducted sister.
Dana Katherine Scully. Ill-fitting black suit, white dress shirt, cross necklace, cat ears, unresolved sexual tension, daddy issues, science facts.
FOR EVERYONE
Sick Dinosaur. Resize and print this green Triceratops cutout on large poster paper. Easily fold it over your back and tape it to your body. Try not to move very much. For More Fun: Carry actual pile of poo.
Explore the weird, wild, wonderful world of one very uncommon Doctor. #instagram #docthoreau #goryl
