Quick Update

After finishing Python and Django, I started learning the MEAN stack. MongoDB, Express, and Node wasn’t too bad, but the “A”... Angular... definitely puts up a challenge.

The struggle to the wrap things up.

It’s been a long haul to put everything together from the front end to implementing databases. However, it’s such an exciting moment to finally being able to deploy a project and have it running on the internet. Last week, got a fun taste of building servers on Flask with Python. This week will be building databases with MySQL.

Exercise Patience. People want to do something new, something big all the time. However, how many of those ideas get brought to life? Not enough. As with doing anything worthy or learning anything useful, it will be difficult and time consuming unless you are one of the handful super geniuses of the world. Patience is among the only mental Skills that will carry you through whatever you want to achieve.

New Material

The past 2 weeks been all about front end development. Starting back end development this week with python. Personally very excited and a little bit nervous, but I am going to tell myself it is easy.

Thoughts

Sometimes you feel ahead because you compare your progress to those around you. But really, you don’t know enough from simple observation to make such judgement. You may simply have more experience in the subject or other’s might be ahead in other things.

Sometimes when you overheard other people’s progress, it makes you feel behind. Reality is, you don't know enough about the person’s progress to really know if you are behind.

Be humble, be hungry. But stay within yourself and measure your progress more intellectually than simple observations of those around.

Last week was all about HTML and CSS. This week will be a little more interactive with JS. Shown up early to get prepared for the hustle!

I remembered something I heard a long time ago from one of my classmates at my university. When discussing about large/difficult assignments, he said “Easy dude, I always tell myself it is easy.” At the time, I thought he was a little conceited. As time goes on, I learned that thinking in that mentality can be very beneficial. A lot of times, even for fun projects, it can be intimidating and discouraging to get started because of the anxiousness caused by lengthy/challenging projects. As such, it is important to keep it easy on the mind and get things started.
