My dad passed away today, after a five year battle with lung cancer that eventually made its way to his brain.
I typed out a page length post looking for the proper way to describe our relationship but I still can’t find the words.
In short, he was more of a father figure than my biological dad could ever be. I considered him, and referred to him as my Dad, up until the day he passed.
As much as I agree with the cliché consolidation “at least he’s not suffering anymore” that everyone keeps saying, I would still trade everything to Have one more day with him.
Grief is a process and mine has just begun. Love you forever, Dad.
