There is this french comic book called “Les Rugbymen”. It is quite popular and is currently at his sixteenth book (not counting special ones). It follows the adventures of a team of rugbymen, adult ones, and since it’s a funny comic book every strip has a joke in it. Now why am I mentionning this one here? Because, as you can see in this strip, a lot of the team membres are fat and/or big eaters. The other ones are muscular or small. (Plus there’s one “pretty boy”). So you can often see in the comic books characters stuffing their faces and, I guess, gaining weight (not sure about that). And of course, we often see their bellies, just like in the drawing above. However I haven’t read any of the books yet. I only discovered this bande-dessinée because some of its strips were included in a free magazine about comic books. So, yeah, if I ever find the comic books for cheap, I’ll maybe buy some of them. But for now that will be all. And I forgot to add: the drawings are done by Poupard, while the scenario is from Beka (a collaboration between Bertrand Escaich and Caroline Roque)

I looked into a lot of issues of this BD (French comic book), not into all of them, but so far I couldn't find any actual weight gain. There's a lot of eating and burping and fat guys and big gluttons, but no weight gain or even visibly stuffing from what I could get... If anybody else from a French-publishing/French-reading country knows of any worthy instance in this one, do not hesitate to share!

I know it’s a bit early, but I think I’ll start doing some Halloween-related posts. In the Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror comic, issue 5, at one point Homer stuffs himself on all the offerings people made to an anciens god, releasing a curse that raises the dead from the grave. All of his family is warned of his crime by a very loud burp. And at the end of the story, after replacing all of the offerings and once the night is over, the family hears another one of Homer’s enormous burps, as the dead start to rise again….

I am not dead! Do not worry I survived the heatwave, but it got me very busy, and with more coming I might not be as active as I wanted during this summer...

Meanwhile, I was asked if anybody has saved a full version of that one comic page from "The Beano"? It is a "Tim Traveller" story.

It is from "issue 2949" according to the UK Comic Database -the issue of the 23rd of January 1999. It notably got posted on the Big Cartoon Wiki with a recap, but was mis-dated at the 25th of January.

It is the one with a double stuffing, of Tim first then his dad at the end.

It is a specific story/arc of the Lil’ Abner comic strip, running from December 6th 1956 to March 3rd 1957. 

I am wondering because the Big Cartoon Wiki has only one strip of the comic story in question, but it seems there are more (with the fattened up character appearing in other strips)

I mentionned earlier that the comic strip “The Life of Riley” was remade. Well here is the remake. It’s called The Swamp Monsters, remade by Dick Ayers in 1970. You can find it in the volume 2 of Tales from the Tomb. Like I said the art is cleaner, and the weight gain much more obvious. Warning, cannibalism and beheading.

Unfortunately for us, Gluttony is along with Lust, one of the two Sins that don’t get any backstory.

Because you see, the embodiment of Sins aren’t merely demons - they used to be human souls, the souls of some of the worst sinners of their time in their respective fields. When one Sin ends up dead (or leaving its post, like Sloth), they need to find another sinful soul to replace it. And thus the cycle goes on. 

If we don’t get their backstory (told by the Necronomicon, a sentient grimoire of evil reanimating the dead, invoking demons and containing all the secrets of hell), it’s because the book explains that Lust and Gluttony are “base sins”, dangerous but not in fight. Hence why we don’t learn anything about them.

However, we know that Gluttony has to be younger than the children’s crusade because Wrath, the longest serving Sin, comes from this era. 

Gluttony dies when he protects Wrath from Ash attempt at killing him - using the Necronomicon as a weapon against them. Gluttony receives the book of all evils right into his chest, killing him. 

Later, when the surviving Sins leave back to Purgatory, they mention that they have many Sins to replace, so in this universe probably a new version of Gluttony appeared.

The character of "Gluttony" there has such a strange impact on me because... As an Hellraiser fanboy (the originals, of course, not some of the final slop that came as the franchise died out - though the recent works were and/or look very promising!) one of my favorite Cenobites was the Chatterer. I just loved his aesthetic and design. Truly iconic.

And then you have this version which has an excellent fat body body just constantly out?! I just fell in love. But I have to admit it is a very strange thing to enjoy a character so much just because the design happens to be the perfect match between FULLY non-kinky hyper-interest and your personal deep-seated kink.

There’s another comic in which we see embodiments of the Seven Deadly Sins inspired by the Cenobites of Hellraiser.

It’s the “Home Sweet Hell” four-issues part of the comic “Army of Darkness”.

We will of course focus mostly on Gluttony. He is represented as a grossly overweight monster, nearly entirely naked except for a bit of black leather stuff. He also has his nipples pierces. His face is entirely blank, without eyes, nose, hair or ears, except for one lipless mouth filled with fangs. This design, especially with the deep lines on the side of the mouth, are a clear reference to the Chatterer Cenobite from Hellraiser.

The Seven Deadly Sins live in Purgatory, a place “described as extremely close to Hell”. From there, they spread their influence, corrupting the souls. Once said souls are dead, they arrive in Purgatory to be tortured by their respective sins in special cells. As a result they are the owner and masters of the place, but also its prisoners. Not only do they have a “quota” of souls to torture and make repent for their sins, they also have very limited possibilities to get out in the “real world”, their employers liking to know them contained so that they don’t “muck” things too much. 

How Gluttony tortures his souls is quite unclear. We have a brief glimpse of his cells, with a bunch of overweight people naked and tied with chains. He is stuffing his face in front of them, devouring meat (red or green, so probably partly rotten) from a big cooking pot in front of them. It seems they are crying to have a piece of it, and are to suffer eternal hunger while Gluttony stuffs his face in front of them. (Lust has quite a similar way of torturing its souls). 

In fact, that’s mostly everything he does, he is always seen with a piece of meat somewhere near or into his mouth. 

The main plot of the story here is that Sloth of the Seven Deadly Sins left the job, because… well, it was the embodiment of sloth itself, of course it would go on holidays and never come back. As a result they try to find another Sloth, and pick Ask, from the Evil Dead, to be the next Sloth, for being a pathetic coward letting his girlfriend be eaten by zombie-demons and just fleeing the scene without doing anything. Gluttony, like the other sins, spends a lot of time watching him from Purgatory. Gluttony just munchs popcorn like if he was watching a movie and criticises the chosen one, saying that he is pathetic. He would rather have his girlfriend as Sloth, mostly because she is slothful, but also because she “put on some weight” (Gluttony seems to like chunky girls). 

The other Sins seem to disdain him, Lust nicknaming him “tubby” and saying he/she/it couldn’t belive their sins were on the same level - but Gluttony, while slow to think and act and prompt to criticize, is also the one that seems to spot the important details - for example he is the one that identify the house Ash just entered as a “hell house”, a portal to the afterlife and a way for them to escape, something the over Sins completely overlooked.

I will forever enjoy this set of characters and I am sad they never were used more because they were a very interesting mix of two of my non-kink obsessions, the Cenobites of Hellraiser and the seven deadly sins motifs...

... But with STILL some fat material thrown in the way!

From Avengelyne: Deadly Sins. A two-issues mini series about Avengelyne that was published in 1996.

In this comic, Avengelyne goes to Las Vegas to deal with the embodiment of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Here is the character of Gluttony. Embodying the sin of Gluttony, as his name says. 

The Seven Deadly Sins here were all given a sexy-sadomasochistic look clearly inspired by the Cenobites of Hellraiser. Gluttony, more precisely, is inspired after the “Fat Cenobite” or “Butterball Cenobite” of the original Hellraisers. 

He appears as a gray-whited skinned male, enormously fat, with a big belly, stumpy legs, long and very thicks arms for strong hands. His face especially is supposed to be dual-like, with an enormous goitre-like double chin, but a skeletical face, bald with sunken cheeks, revealed teeths and an absence of nose, all reminding of a skull. The tainted and round glasses are a direct reference to the Butterball cenobite. In the second issue it’s also revealed that when he smiles, he can retract his lips so that all of his mouth is exposed, gums included - and he apparently has a lot of very big teeth. 

In the first issue he only wore black leather underwear, and a sort of chest-straps, again of black leather, revealing two enormous manboobs with nipples pierced. He also had a kind of small and tight golden wire around his huge belly, closing itself on his belly buttons thanks to what looks like fisher hooks? 

But in the second issue (starting with picture seven) they made his black chest-straps a black leather top, hiding his chest, and abandonned the belt-wire thing. 

Another huge difference between the two issues is his size. In the first one, he is supposed to be one of the two giants of the group along with Wrath, they are both the same size and height, and both have ridiculously small heads for their bodies (pictures five and six), except one is all muscles the other all fat. But in the second issue (pictures 7, 8, 9) he becomes smaller, being more like an overweight human standing in a hunched position. In fact, with his body proportions, he indeed looks like a hunchback or an horrifying gorilla  (I guess he has such huge hands to grab all of the food he can). 

Gluttony is introduced with a quote from the Proverbs “The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet words” (Proverbs 23:8). Which is a quote usually associated with gluttony and how food isn’t the only or the realest source of pleasure in this world. Usually it is interpreted as “the food you are not giving willingly, that you took from force from other or you didn’t earn, will only taste bad in your mouth, and reveal your true unpleasant nature by reflecting said unpleasantness onto you”. 

Lust apparently doesn’t hold Gluttony in high regard, calling him a “simpleton”. But it’s probably because Gluttony lacks patience and is unable to wait, easily bored, and only thinking to go straight to the point - or rather, lacking any form of complex thoughts. Traits reflections of the sin he embodies. 

Now… Even though he is Gluttony itself, he doesn’t crave food or any kind of material good. He rather craves goodnes, and purity. He searches for good, kind, pure souls and once he finds them he “gobbles them up”. It is left unclear if he simply corrupts them with his gluttony, indeed removing any form of goodness, or if he literaly devours souls. He has a preference for young children, given that they tend to have the purest souls. 

But in general he is the team member that speaks the less and is kept in the background. Even Sloth has much more dialogue than him. 

Oh, and I forgot to add, he and his Sins companion have in this comic the same power than the Seven Deadly Sins in the Pandora comics - that of not be seen or heard if they don’t want to, and only manifesting before who they want, when they want it.

I don't quite like the design here but what the heck, I am a fan of seven deadly sins, so I'll keep this sighting for my personal obsession

Hopefully for us, Caution spends a good part of the second issue completely naked. Because he was kidnapped in an alien world of slime, and tortured by a slime-lady and…

… you know, I’m amazed that slime-kinkers haven’t used this comic before. 

Anyway, there’s more of naked-Caution in the issue, but I chose what I deem as the most interesting parts. 

He also ends up being kissed by the alien-lady, which surprises him. First because he is surprised someone might find him attractive at all. And two because he suggests that it is actually his first kiss. So… yeah, you’ve got yourself a big cute full-bellied virgin right there ladies and gentlemen. (Virginity always make the sales of a character in the kink world go through the roof ~ you adorable little perverts)

Another @joejoepotatowedge finding.

This comic is called “Prudence and Caution”. It started out as a series, but after two issues it was stopped, resulting in it becoming an unfinished “mini-series”. 

The character of Caution is, as you can see, an overweight one-armed man. He apparently used to be a very good baseball player back in the days. And, to everyone’s surprise, it’s not because he lost his arm that he stopped playing (this apparently came later). He in fact stopped playing in outschool because, as he said while talking about one of his player friend “He stopped growing. There really is such a thing as being too big for your own good”.

This sentence, linked to how his friends in question nicknamed him “Tits” in highschool and still does, implies that Caution stopped playing baseball after becoming obese during his highschool years, making him unable to practice this sport anymore. 

He seemed to have lost a bit of weight - given that now he has a lot of muscles and is a good fighter. In fact, it is said that even with his missing arm he could be a very good baseball player and hit some really hard balls. Despite that, he still is ashamed and disgusted by his own fat. 

At a point he wears a special alien suit made of slime. He tests its limits and notices that is can stretch nearly ad-infinitum. He comments “Great! I can stuff myself at thanksgiving and not have to loosen my belt. Too bad the sight of my belly, especially with this color scheme, is sure to make everyone sick”.

So here is “Dullards to Donut”, a story of the Simpson Comics.

The cover you see here with obese Homer, Leny and Karl fighting is from the “Simpsons Classics” issue 20, but the story first appeared in the 38th issue of the Simpsons comic. 

The story begins with Smithers realizing that the power plant loses money because his employees are eating too much donuts (donuts provided by the power plant itself) and he talks about it with Mister Burns, who then reveals his huge evil masterplan. 

If he spend so much offering donuts to his employees, it’s not for nothing. These donuts were designed and marketed to be more satisfying, filling and attractive than normal donuts, hence why the employees consume so much of them. One day, mister Burns explains that he will stop offering donuts to his employees. It plunges them into a great despair, and they crave so much donuts that they attack the Kwik E Mart and devours all the donuts it contains - only to realize that the power plant donuts were better. 

In the end, mister Burns agrees to give, or rather sell to his employees donuts again - in exchange for them agreeing to be paid half less, and to have their benefits reduced. And not only does Burns sells them the donuts - he gives them a new and improved donut formula even more addictive. It goes so far that Homer is ready to stop buying food for himself just to feed on donuts. 

These new donuts work like a charm - reducing stress, making people happy, satisfying appetite. But they have no nutritional value and are loaded with fat. Add that to their highly addictive nature - and Burns soon found himself with another problem. Now he doesn’t lose money on donuts anymore - but his workers are highly inefficient, for the donuts all made them overweight. 

(And there is some fat Carl and Lenny, and I’m a big fat of Fat Lenny)

As a result, Burns orders his scientist to make new donuts with a fat substitute to help his “potbellied, broad in the beam, slothful roly-polies” of workers become efficient at their work again. 

It works fine, with the only side effect being giving people consuming them a bad case of halitosis.

Fifth issue of The Colossus of Mars.

Valian ends up destroying the Colossus with his weapon, while the heroine kills his father. But unfortunately, The Colossus falls on Valian, killing him in the process - his last words being the name of of the heroin. Yeah, that’s sad…

On a different note, notice how in this issue he appears bigger than in the previous one? Like fatter, with a bigger belly? I interpret that simply: when he settled with the protagonists, he was free from his father’s grasp and the constant judgement of his court. They were friendly people, not trying to judge him for his feats, especially since he proved to them that he was a gifted inventor and weapon makes. As a result, I think he let himself go, living (and eating) like he truly wanted to, without having to restrain himself to please his father or seem more “manly” or “athletic”. But that’s just my interpretation.

Interestingly I first thought that he was ashamed of his own appearance, saying to the heroine in their first meeting that he is “not much to look upon”. But then, seeing how he never complains about his weight and even seems to gain fat while being with the heroes, I wonder if he wasn’t saying that simply because he didn’t look like a great warrior. After all, despite the Red Martians all sporting six packs, one of their generals has quite a big gut (but also a beard, which is apparently highly unusual in the Red Martian species), and Valian complains mostly about how ineffective he is in battle and on how people never take him as a serious power or threat - he never outright says anything about his own body.

Fourth issue of The Colossus of Mars.

Valian joins the heroes in a fight against his own father, inventing for the heroine wings to fly in the sky, and for the Colossus a weapon able to destroy it with special radio waves.

Later he has a talk with the heroine, explaining to her his familial situation. Valian is the son of Senneth’s favorite concubine, who he loved dearly. When she was killed by a cruel bande of Green Martians, Senneth developped an unhealthy obsession with destroying the Green Martians, and his heart hardened and became colder as he turned his life to warriorship and combat, making him the abusive and bloodthirsty monster he is now.

Valian also expresses a great shame and sorrow at his current state. He is saddened to know that his love for the heroine will never be returned, and he is extremely tired and angry at everyone thinking of him as the “sweet guy” or the “kind one”, wishing he was a powerful warrior instead. He’s quite a sad character, really.

Third issue of The Colossus of Mars.

Valian’s treachery is revealed to his father, who tries to punish him dreadfully (maybe even killing him). But Valian escapes.

In this comic there are two other fat characters. I don’t know if I’ll make posts about them but I’ll mention them here: there is a bald and overweight vizir/counselor of Senneth, and a bearded and fat-bellied general on the heroine’s side who will reveal himself to be a traitor.
