goonerism went too far
Too cute to not have it here too
i need to visualise to people why i think there's no way that bitch bill could see stars unless his world was 3-d in 4-d dimention (some physics say our world is 4-d, if time counts as 4th dimention)
I AM SOOOO SUPER SORRY I MISUNDERSTOOD THE POST AND SPENT A WHILE TRYING TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING THAT YOU WERE ALREADY TRYING TO EXPLAIN LMAO. I AM SORRY, I HAVENT HAD BREAKFAST LOL, WELL, I'M STILL LEAVING IT HERE IN CASE, YOU WANT IT OR SOMETHING IDK, AGAIN SORRY FOR THE RANT LOL
I think the point is that Euclydia wasn't a flat dimension, it was a flat world in an otherwise non flat universe.
this is not even unheard of in Gravity Falls as Journal 3 shows that Ford was already once in a dimension similar to The Euclydia
In this "Exwhylia" Ford was able to intersect his three-directional body with its bi-directional reality; however, in this place he was essentially stuck. Having no Z axis, Ford couldn't even communicate with Exwhylia and had to be saved. But still; He was able to exist around Exwhylia despite it only containing two axis.
Euclydia was probably similar, and perhaps already intersected by a different three-directional universe, or simply having a third axis that was "unused" or simply unreachable by the plane on which Euclydia resided. But this is how Bill could see the stars. His eye was pointing towards the third axis, and was able to see the fully three-directional space beyond his home plane.
You can even kinda see it in his design.
In a 2D world (using the Exwhylia page as an example since both Exwhylia and Euclydia are "parodies" to Flatland) 3D eyes are useless, especially if these aren't even in the right axis, Ford was somewhat stuck Midway through Exwhylia, but Bill being born in this flat world had his body fully in the same plane as Euclydia, save for his eye.
It wasn't an eye-like structure on his sides which would be expected of a 2D resident of a 2D world; it was an eye on the top of his shape. This eye was the one able to see the stars.
sorta like this
We do know Euclydia WAS (despite being flat) bent across the third dimension, as their hymn states
"Two dimensions to and fro, you always know which way to go. If you feel lost, don’t be afraid! In Euclydia you’ve got it made. Run too far too right off frame? You’ll appear on the left again! Jump too high? Don’t cry or fret! You’ll pop up from the ground I bet! In this place there is no fear. Loved ones will be ever near. Roles and rules always clear. Euclydia we hold you dear."
This implies that indeed Euclydia's "top" "bottom" "left side" and "right side" all were bent through the third dimension to connect each edge; but still, they couldn't escape into the Z axis. Their universe didn't allow it.
Just like how we theorize our 3D universe might be 4D (not time. Time is its own thing. Dimension means direction, our simplest universe has three spatial dimensions (length, width, depth) and one time dimension (time moves unidirectionally from the past towards the future A to B is one direction, 1D).)
But we can't easily access this theorized fourth (or more) dimension, because everything in our universe mostly only interacts with three dimensions (however things like black holes which are ... well... holes where the hole is its own surface, technically could be seen as collapsing into a fourth dimension, just like how a hole in a wall is a hole in all 2 dimensions that collapses into a third) We can only speculate. We can't see it physically; in this case, Bill was able to see his "fourth dimension"
though in his case it was just the THIRD dimension.
Thus, for the perspective of ANYONE living in Euclydia, it would be a flat plane that doesn't end and is "self-repeating" or has a warp that returns you to the opposite edge.
THIS is how Euclydia is both flat, and Bill is able to see the stars. Bill is specifically an outlier to Euclydia, the one shape with a mutation that allows him to see into the third axis, [And here's when I realized I missed the point of the post]
the journal 3 pictures source
i indeed said exactly that so you better be sorry haha, there's also a story (idk if it's from flatland or not, I didn't read the book but geometry teachers often refer to shapes like people doing something) where a sphere visited 2-d world and when square didn't believe it, it kicked it so hard it went flying
That proves that no flat world is truly flat since quare was able to be in the third dimension and being able to comprehend it, and I did say that it should be like that since N-d people should live in the [N+1]-d world, and they work pretty much like a perfectly flat paper
I mean, bill was somehow able to see stars if the universe he was living in was a funny shape like the last example and his planet was placed perfectly in front of other space, but my point was that most interpretations use perfectly flat plane and somehow place stars outside of the universe (..like in the last example lol) itself meaning that those stars don't even exist in that universe even if it was 3-d shaped, and that he wouldn't see a beautiful night sky but perfectly alightned to the line dots
The problem is that people mistake the UNIVERSE with a single PLANET and don't understand what "up" means in a flat world
And like I said again, people from N-d dimension can't interact with the higher dimension unless someone from higher dimention interacts and pushes them into that higher dimension, because N-d universe can't place physical objects into Nth dimension because it's not really physical and is always taken by time (but it's real and it exists)
i need to visualise to people why i think there's no way that bitch bill could see stars unless his world was 3-d in 4-d dimention (some physics say our world is 4-d, if time counts as 4th dimention)
