this moment in six of crows is a direct parallel to the story of orpheus and eurydice where instead of orpheus turning around rather than continuing to walk, kaz turns to look at inej because he thinks she’s in danger

headcanon that matthias made wylan create some sort of sneezing powder and give it to kaz for the sole purpose of matthias having an excuse to say “bless you” and try to extract the demon out of kaz by… blessing him
Kanej cautiously avoiding telling any children they raise the whole story of how they met, what they did before they were in charge of their worlds and financially stable, etc. Discretion. Parenting. They’ve already seen enough.
And then their kid will come back from Wesper’s like “Uncle Jes says he and mama drove tanks for you???” and like where does any of that story begin.
UNGRATEFUL tech companies are saying things like "turn off your ad blocker" and "we need your photo id" instead of "thank you so much for not just pirating our shit, youre so handsome"
adult life might be full of pain and suffering but at least we dont have to do PE anymore
When you think about it, Kaz is currently the most powerful person in the whole Grishaverse.
Why?
Well. Two of his best friends (Jesper and Wylan) literally run the merchant council of Ketterdam, one of his best friends (Nina) is the literal queen of Fjerda, he's acquaintances with the king and queen of Ravka (Zoya and Nikolai) who sometimes rely on him for missions, and his girlfriend (Inej) is an awesome, ass-kicking, and well-feared pirate empress.

Okay now everyone stfu and LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW AMAZING IS FRANCES'S MOM
i cant emphathize this enough theres literally a cute boy in my life
it should be illegal to take a nap and still have a headache when you wake up. like no i shut it off and back on again why are you still here
Something about the fact that even Kaz didn't think Jan van eck would be so shit as to not care about his own son makes it a lot more sad.
everyone quotes “i’m going to get my money, and i’m going to get my girl.”
but not the literal following sentence: “inej could never be his, not really, but he would find a way to give her the freedom he’d promised her so long ago.”
like to me that’s the more romantic of the lines; the fact that kaz immediately checks himself and is like nah she’s not mine but i will liquidate all my assets to ensure she’s free.
wylan - pretty sure that's illegal , kaz
kaz - pretty sure im a criminal , wylan
Jesper: see how i DON'T call Wylan an investment? very demure, very mindful
Kaz: i-
sorry i’m just thinking again about kaz brekker, perpetual cynic, and his surprisingly optimistic view of fathers and sons. just. kaz knowing that the one thing that would ruin pekka rollins, the man he hates more than anything, who he couldn’t think less of, would be to threaten the safety of his son. kaz telling jesper that his father cares more about him than any farm. kaz saying “call me sentimental, but i didn’t believe a father could be so callous.” kaz’s fatal misunderstanding of van eck being that he couldn’t conceive of a world in which fathers don’t love their sons. thinking about what all this says about kaz’s own father, and everything he lost before he and jordie ever stepped foot in ketterdam.
“Keep talking, Wraith. Don't slip away from me.”
“But it's what I do best.”

thinking of kanej and how they had the most delicious tension and how “I would have come for you. And if I couldn't walk, I'd crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we'd fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing.” it’s just so iconic and full of feeling. and six of crows is not even a romance book.
