This post is a personal one because to my family and friends I must have been the biggest, dorkiest, muggle-born (yes, muggle-born because I am a witch freak and I wouldn’t allow anyone to tell me otherwise) they will ever meet in their lives, or the next. Ever since I was 13, walking the Wizarding World has been my absolute dream — and last year, after 12 painstakingly long years, I made it. Finally. It was all I ever imagined it would be and more. All the stuff I just read in the books or seen in the films or pictured in my mind were all there for me, tangible and real, to see, to feel and even to taste (yes, Butterbeer!). But seeing the Hogwarts Castle up close was my pièce de résistance moment for my younger self who never really fit in in my old regular school wished and wished that schools like Hogwarts truly exist, or better yet, that there really is such a thing as magic. I can proudly say that my 13-year-old version is finally satiated and that some things are really worth the wait. ✨🧙🏻♀️🪄 (at Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studios, Osaka) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpCsbKoJsWP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
📍Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto Also known as the “Temple of the Golden Pavilion” because of its facade, this pagoda is made to house relics of Buddha and was also named as a UNESCO World Heritage site. There is no travel guide for Kyoto without featuring Kinkaku-ji — and rightfully so! Now honestly, I have gone and seen this place twice already and surely, a third time would still take my breath away. On a still summer day, the Golden Pavilion would be perfectly reflected over on the pond surrounding it; and when the light hits the upper floors of the temple, which is covered completely with golden leaves, it is almost blinding to look at but nonetheless mesmerizing. Although the structure itself has been burned down several times over the years, Kinkaku-ji remains a symbol of the rich culture of Kyoto and its ancient life. 📍Dotonbori, Osaka They say that Osaka is the "kitchen of Japan" and probably the best place for food hopping in Kansai is Dotonbori. With its countless stalls offering all of Japan’s tasty delicacies — from takoyaki to okonomiyaki to deep-fried skewers you can imagine (or not), they’re all waiting for you to devour in this foodie heaven. Another thing that magnetizes tourists to this place is the iconic sign of Glico's Running Man. It is even considered a ✨peak tourist moment✨to have a photo mimicking it! You can also ride a small boat to cruise in the Dotonbori River and breathe in the views at night. A lot can definitely be done in Dotonbori, and indeed it is an experience that will leave your wanderer heart bursting at the seams. #japan #japantravel #japantrip #japanwinter #winter #wintervacation #scenic #osaka #osakajapan #osakatravel #dotonbori #dotonboristreet #japantravelphoto #themundanegal (at Dotonbori Osaka, Japan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoKHdaYJEpL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
📍Kiyomizu-dera A Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. Leading to this marvelous place are streets full of food stalls and souvenir shops, showcasing their rich culture and thriving traditions. You surely wouldn’t wanna miss this spot on your next trip to Japan! #japan #japantravel #japantrip #japanwinter #winter #wintervacation #scenic #kyoto #kyotojapan #japantravelphoto #themundanegal (at Kiyomizu-dera) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnrHPfnJCBL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
something that looks like straight out of a fairytale place in a far, far away land — but no, this are the mountains surrounding Shirakawa-go in Gifu, Japan!
