From Armani hotels to Ralph Lauren coffee shops, a fashion house’s remit no longer ends at accessories. The latest designer diversification comes from luxury French marque Louis Vuitton, which is turning its hand to publishing with the launch of a biannual glossy magazine entitled The Book.
Don’t expect however to see The Book’s first cover – featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg, the muse of Vuitton's artistic director of womenswear Nicolas Ghesquière – on newsagent shelves any time soon. The magazine will be translated into 11 languages and sent to “select customers” globally, WWD reports.

The debut, launching in October, includes an atmospheric menswear spread shot in Iceland by Peter Lindbergh, an interview with Catherine Deneuve, Juergen Teller’s backstage shots from the Cruise 2015 show and a look into the brand’s archive in a feature which explores the story behind Vuitton’s Keepall monogram bags. The Book is edited by Sylvia Jorif, head of fashion news at French Elle, with art direction by Yorgo Tloupas, one of the founders of Intersection Magazine.
