Hey, I assure you my comment wasn't a slight. When I first saw you I was like "oh cool, a Beard!" then I played HM2 and saw your guy was a director, so I figured he was THE Director and I made a mistake. I knew nothing of the theory or what not, or your reason behind keeping the name and such. I was, until this day, under the impression that you were portraying someone else and not Beard. I know you are now, and that's cool. I apologize to everyone, especially you, for the assumption.
Thanks for following up, IÂ appreciate the clarification.
I can understand where the confusion came from, and Iâm glad this whole thing is sorted out, but I do want to say that if youâre ever confused about someoneâs character/portrayal, the best thing you can do is send THEM an ask. It saves a lot of trouble, and pretty much eliminates the possibility of miscommunication. What I donât recommend doing, is messaging other people with assumptions. I know you meant well, and again, I really do appreciate you following up (a lot of the time whenever someoneâs on anon they tend to just disappear).Â
well uh since apparently thereâs a problem somewhere
iâm well aware that the rouven blankenfeld used in hm2 isnât beard. but if youâve been in the hm fandom as long as i have, the theory that was big back when hm2 was first being announced was that they were. and...yeah. i really liked that idea.
beard has been my favorite since the first game came out and iâve put a lot of work into my idea of him. iâve said it before and iâll say it again, i really wasnât happy with the direction the plot of hm2 took, so iâm sorry that iâm not all that content with dropping everything iâve worked for, including the name iâve used for years before hm2 came out.
so. yeah.

Heâs knelt in front of her, hands taken into his own, looking up at her with a mixture of worry and compassion. Rouven never has been able to stand seeing her upset, especially not when someoneâs wronged her.
But her smile comes as a relief, and he cracks a small one of his own.

this is actually the first time i drew him
Rouven canât resist a chuckle. Of course he doesnât, but he knows Jacobâs nature. More so, actually, he knows peopleâs natures. People always want to owe and be owed. Not Rouven Blankenfeld.
âSays who? You?---God?â He laughs again, softly, but quiets not long after. Something in his posture changes as he leans forward, propped up on the counter by his crossed arms. The look in his eyes changes as well; none of the light fades, but itâs clear that heâs serious.
â------I helped you. And you know what? You helped me more than I think you wanna give yourself credit for.â Rouven pauses. â----So now weâre both here, alive, having this conversation. If you really wanna owe anybody, owe it to yourself.â
SF is pretty cool

He hums lightly in acknowledgement, waiting for his response; Rouven is well aware that his friend is a pessimist, and granted, even if he wasnât, it would be difficult to reach his own level of optimism. Thatâs no fault of Jacobâs, and though it might test someone elseâs patience, Rouven doesnât mind. He has time.
Jacobâs statement is enough to satisfy him, and he nods.
âThere isnât a whole lot you can do thatâs for nothing, Jacob-----for better or worse, itâll catch up to you,â From anyone else, that might be intended to be patronizing. A small laugh escapes him, bordering somewhere in between pure good nature and tired acceptance, like heâs had this realization a hundred times. Not far from the truth.
â----Hardest part is just making sure youâve got your eyes open when it does, right?.â
