Overview

Charlotte Morningstar, more commonly known as Charlie, is the Hellborn princess of Hell and the founder of the Happy Hotel. The estranged daughter of Lucifer, Charlie wants to do right by her kingdom and find a way to redeem Sinners into Heaven through rehabilitation at the Hazbin Hotel.

Personality traits

Charlie is compassionate and empathetic to a fault, feeling genuinely upset at the idea of harm coming to others. Although she isn’t unaware that Hell is populated with souls that have committed egregious acts in their living lives, she still views their yearly extermination as a senseless waste and makes it her personal mission to help them avoid it via self-betterment and eventual redemption, something she is seemingly alone in believing is possible. Charlie’s idealism, while setting her apart from many of her hellborn peers, can also make her naïve to many of the harsh realities that appear to stand in the way of her potential success - something her girlfriend, Vaggie, tries to remind her of, only to be cheerfully ignored in favor of a more blinkered, sunny optimism. This can also cause her to rush headlong into the initial stages of her plans without much preparation (her prompt list before her big news appearance reading only “unicorn kisses, dolphin high fives, sing showtunes = happy ending?”). Charlie has a love for musical theatre, song and dance, and will often convey her emotions and ideas through showtunes and ballads. She appears to take perceived failures hard, as she believes her heartfelt theatrical passion should be enough to bring people over to her way of thinking, and is disheartened when it’s not as simple as she imagines. She openly admits during a dejected voicemail to her mother that she doesn’t actually know what she is doing, or how to make her plan for reforming sinners work in practice. Despite being sweet and lacking ‘street-smarts’, this doesn’t make Charlie a pushover or stupid. When people insult her or openly mock her ideals and plans, she has no hesitation in standing up for herself, or even rolling up her sleeves to physically fight back. She is also not above letting a few cuss words slip. Charlie also displays some grounding in her idealism, understanding that not all demons can be redeemed, or even likely to change for the better. She displays sensible hesitation when confronted with an ambiguous deal from Alastor, the notorious Radio Demon, refusing the shake his hand and using her status to make demands of him (albeit with some sheepishness).

After closing her eyes for a moment, Charlie diverted her sight but let her mom put her hand atop her head; a soft sigh escaping her lips and her shoulders relaxing a little.

"You don't know how much it means that I won't be alone in this. It's not like I thought I was alone, but having you and dad by my side?...we will do our best." Even if slowly, the heiress's energy seemed to be coming back, and after rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand a little, she watched as Lilith leaned a bit to get to her level.

And just as unexpectedly, the comment took her off-guard, managing to get the demon princess to blush softly.

"You...you heard about Vaggie?..."

"Shh, shh...I know, hon..." she soothed gently. Despite the grip on her hands, she managed to free one, cupping one of Charlie's cheeks. Her thumb brushed over the crest of Charlie's cheek and she murmured, "I know you didn't mean for any of this to happen. Your dream has always had your good intentions on display."

"We'll figure this out. I swear we will," Vaggie promised. "I told you from day one that I believed in you and I'd stand by you...I'm not gonna stop now that things are going kind of sideways..."

Her grip loosened slightly and her shoulders relaxed a bit when Vaggie's hand fell on her cheek. She was still clenching her jaw and trying to hold back a little, but a contained sob and some tears would be inevitable.

"M-Mom says she's going to help...I know you will also be here, as you've always been...and dad...a-and all my friends...but why does it always have to end with violence?..." Her eyes were burning, and she ultimately leaned against her girlfriend more, before trying to swallow and letting out a shaky sigh.

"I just...I even told dad to train me so I can reach for all my potential...there's still so much I need to learn and it feels there's so little time-"

"Don't worry about it you know. Only really had a thought wondering if you were a fallen angel. You don't quite seem like a demon how I expect. Thought demons could simply be different for other people. Quick-shift would call them elementals of Fey and wanting to destroy worlds and make them part of the realm of Fey. Percival call them fiends, and Deathrai, well not sure," Ron paused for a moment.

"Well can't exactly disagree with that. Not exactly a demon, so wouldn't look like one," He turned slightly as if he was looking for one of those gazes. "What do you mean by the idea of taking advantage of me? What do they think they'll be able to do,"

Was that a compliment? Maybe, although there were conflicting feeling inside of her on how to feel about it. Yet, at the same time...

"Well, I mean, despite being a demon I'm the daughter of the first fallen angel and the first woman. There's some angelic blood in my veins."

Passing a hand by her hair after saying so, Charlie let her horns appear, alongside her tail as well, and a change of her eye color to shine in yellow now, against a red sclera.

When she did that, some of the gazes they were getting their way looked elsewhere, as if the presence of the princess just got a little bit more intimidating despite not being angry.

"Surely, you aren't naive enough to not know that, well, a lot of them don't have good intentions- do I really have to go into detail?"

"Oh, oh, oh!! I'm absolutely into making an effort for redemption! I was just asking if there was anything that I need to still pay for. I really want to make up for whatever I did. I still can't tell if I did anything wrong when I was alive, or if this is for uh, turning a blind eye to the horrors at the previous hotel. Heh heh." He cleared his throat. "But yes! Before I gave up ownership, I built the hotel myself and made sure to keep the rooms clean and accommodated to each individual's preference. Such as intense security! I also kept up with supplies, purchases, new renovations, and fixing things!"

He found himself wishing that he had typed up and printed out a resume. But so far, she's seems to be willing to give him a chance? Fingers crossed!

"Oh, no no no! The extra work is just optional, because it's already good enough when someone puts the effort in wanting to redeem themselves!" Waving an arm almost dramatically, it seemed like Charlie not only was excited, but also really curious and grateful about the extra help.

"There's only one way I can see what you're capable of, and that's giving you the position you're asking for. We're kinda understaffed and the hotel is now bigger than originally planned, so you see?...this kind of expertise will be very appreciated." Humming softly, the demon then outstretched a hand, almost as if she was introducing herself more properly.

"And so, I think it was rude of me- but I think I didn't catch your name?...you can call me Charlie."

Alice froze for a second to process before getting close to her to follow. "....You have a hotel. And you're trying to rehabilitate sinners to give them a second chance." She looked around again, taking in the buildings. "Are you SURE this is Hell?? I can see and sense the demons here. But...why are there actual buildings and vendors? I expected fire pits and prisons. Where are all the humans? Why are you so nice without any ulterior motives? What kind of book have I been reading?!" How she managed to not raise her voice is beyond even her.

"Uhm....yes?" It was definitely weird, specially in a place like Hell. It's true the Pride Ring and all of Hell could remind anyone else of how the outside world worked, but at the same time, it was way more brutal on a daily basis.

Charlie, on the other hand, was the biggest exception of this damned hole.

"This is the Pride Ring, in fact- it's where all human souls that are damned to Hell end up. They can't enter the rest of Rings. Without the help from powerful demons outside of it, anyway." After making a pause, the princess stepped around a little, and then stood in front of Alice, nonchalantly letting her tail and horns make their appearance.

"Hell has evolved since my dad, Lucifer, fell. Alongside Lilith, my mom...and I know it's probably a lot to take in at the moment, but believe me, the rest of demons here aren't like me...at all...I'm the only one that's crazy enough to go along with the redemption project..."

Magic, of course, they were in hell and Charlie was the princess of it, of course she had magic. Ruby kept smiling, though a little forced.

“Don't worry! Take all the time you need to learn how to do the illusion disguise thing!” She tried to sound cheerful “Until then, I can disguise myself… maybe not to look like a demon but… enough to not attract attention” She was good at hiding her face, as any idol should.

Ruby took the jacket that Charlie gave her and whispered a thank you. Of course, the jacket was too big for her considering the big height difference between the princess and the idol, but in this case, that was something good, because the jacket could cover part of her face, enough for demons to not have a good look of it at the distance. But she still had to work on the eyes thing.

She took the bow in her hair and used it to make a messy ponytail, in a way that her fringe fell in front of her eyes and covered them. She was secretly glad that Charlie wasn't able to use her magic on her just yet… it wasn't that she didn't trust the princess, but between the loli-crow-goddess and the whole soul-transferring thing, she had had her doses of magic for, apparently, two lifetimes.

Still, if Charlie thought that was the safest option, she wasn't going to discuss it… but she would need time to prepare.

“So, what do you think?” when she felt confident about her disguise, she made a spin, for the princess to look at it. She placed two fingers near her eye in a V form, like an idol pose.

“I think I did a pretty good job given the situation… maybe with a hat and glasses it will be better. But do you think this is enough until then?”

Then, she took the princess's hands and offered a soft, warm smile. It felt well that someone cared about you. She couldn't wait for them to act together, but she understood how important it was to be safe.

“And thank you for taking care of me, Charlie. For all you have done so far. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn’t found you.”

While they walked, Charlie tried to not overthink about Ruby's slightly forced smile. She was worried that she said something that the idol didn't like much, but for now, she would continue walking while thinking about who to approach for the magic thing.

Maybe the obvious option was her dad...after all, he was pretty versed in shapeshifting magic.

Humming softly to herself, her crimson hues only went back to gaze at the idol once she finished her small disguise, or at least the attempt at one.

"Hmh!...I think I could use some makeup on you to further help with that!" Adding so with a soft laugh, the demon princess could see the entrance of the hotel from here- a small relief coming to her once the both of them were pretty much at the front doors.

"Maybe use some of my perfume as well, just in case that some demons can 'smell' that you're human...and maybe that will do good until I find a solution." Making a brief pause, she then clasped her hands together. "I plan on asking my dad. He's pretty good with shapeshifting, so maybe he will know of something!"
