"Sorry to hear about that." Maggie said as she turned the book over in her hand to read the back of it.

Even though he saw all of the gunshots hit them, they still kept coming towards him. He didn’t say anything to the gunman, instead, he readied himself, and stabbed and sliced at the creatures with his staff, using a whirlwind of techniques. 

Before long, the creatures were on the floor, their wings weren’t beaten anymore. He bowed, as if to show respect, and then turned around to speak to the gunman “Thank you for your help” He said

Lightning felt a bad taste in her mouth when she hadn’t fatally wounded the creatures, believing that the man would be killed. She hadn’t expected the man with a mere bo staff to be able to handle all three of them, but he did. He’s a capable man.

When the man acknowledged her work, she simply nodded. “Do you know what these things are?” she asked, her voice naturally quiet, yet still maintaining a firm tone.

The man rested on his staff, for support "Nope, haven't an idea" He said, laughing "But they're violent, I know that from previous scuffles with them" He paused "I need to be doing some more research on them" 

He walked over to one of then and jabbed it with his staff, quite forcefully, a dying squark was heard.

Jayden was walking down an abandoned street, it was the main road of an abandoned town in the middle of the desert, he had been hiding out there for some time, although it was abandoned there was still caches of supplies that he’d found in basements, or in store cupboards or where ever he managed to look, he found at least something. 

He was walking down the road just to have a look around the rest of the town, as he’d stayed particularly near the area that was closest to life, on the other side of a short walk through the desert. He was stopped in his tracks when he saw a group of some sort of flying creatures come round the corner, there were 3 of them, Jayden saw them and took his stance, his bo staff in his hands, he wasn’t sure what they would be like to fight, but he would try none the less

"Shit!" Lightning cursed as she ran down a deserted street. Following closely behind her was a creature. Its skin was sickly pale, and its blue-green veins around the skull were pulsating. The creature’s blood-soaked teeth were razor sharp, and were paired with a set of claws even sharper on their hands.

Still running, Lightning drew her folded gunblade from its sheath and swung it open. She stopped on her heel and twisted around to face the creature, her weapon in gun-mode, aimed at creature’s skull. With a squeeze of her weapon’s trigger, a bullet was sent flying out the barrel and pierced the skull of the winged creature. Its body dropped with a satisfying thud.

Lightning smirked before turning around back the way she was heading. She was met by the sight of three more of the foul creatures, but this time, they were preparing to attack a man armed with a bo staff. Should I help him?

Shaking her head in regret, she fired a shot at the head of each creature, three shots total. “Watch out!” she shouted, hoping to warn the other human.

"He used to be a lab assistant." She said about Morgan. "His boss was horrible to him. So he left the job. He still loves his science."

"I think may’ve angered him, with my lack of scientific knowledge" He said "It’s good to see someone outside the temple, that dedicated to their craft"

"It is surprising when you find someone who doesn’t even know common biology." She said with a small laugh. "I don’t think he’s angry at you. I think he’s just surprised and doesn’t know how to take it and react. He’ll be just fine. He hopes to be a science teacher."

"I’ve never needed to know science, I’ve lived my life a buddhist, living in a male only Shaolin temple, harnessing my body into what it is today" He said "But, good luck to him"

She nodded. “We met a few years ago in Pennsylvania. I saved him from hypothermia, been friends ever since.”

"That was a good thing to do, helping out a stranger" He said "It seems like it worked out"

She nodded again. “It was scary. He nearly died. But our friend, Isaac knew exactly what he needed to do. I sat with him overnight.”

Open starter: The monk's training.

The monk walked into the empty hall that he was given for 2 hours, each Sunday, in order to train and meditate and do his thing. He slipped off his shoes and proceeded through the strict warm up procedure that he's always done, every day, when he's wanted to train properly. 

He then went through the Kung fu Forms, from the basic, to the most advanced, and back down to the basics. Whilst he was going through some one the more advanced forms, he heard footsteps, but thought nothing of it.

"Hm…" Morgan responded, turning to look for some books. "Don’t mind him." Maggie said. "He gets like that when he’s deep in thought."

"It’s fine, don’t worry about it" He replied, offering the book to Maggie

Maggie took the book and examined it. “Not my genre.” She said apologetically. “I’m more of a Little House on the Prairie and Irish Folklore girl.” She said with a shrug.
