Here Comes the Fun Part || Natasha & Dean
Now was the fun part. Detention. Natasha was one of the few he had given detention and it felt horrible to give it to her, but he made a promise. He did feel better chatting with Clint to find out that he was fine with Dean now, but Natasha still felt the same way.
He sat in his classroom with his feet on the desk and the newspaper covering his face. The door was cracked enough for Natasha to push open and come in. This detention was going to be boring. Probably just let her do homework or just sit in silence.
Natasha was scowling as she made her way to De--Professor Winchester’s classroom. The fact that he’d given her detention was so frustrating. She’d gone from never having it in her life to being punished by two professors in the span of a few months. It was preposterous, really, and that was sitting in her mind as she pushed open the door.
“Evening,” she said, voice low but sharp. “Is there a particular punishment you had in mind, or shall I just sit?” Really, she’d rather have a task. Sitting and doing nothing was the bane of her existence, and she’d had plenty of it over Christmas. Enough that she never wanted it again.

“Ditto.” Slender fingers carded through her hair. “Being dead sucked.” He echoed her sigh and glanced down at her. “So, what now? How do we get back to normal?”
She hummed gently, eyes closing for a moment as his fingers ran through her hair. The familiarity, the simplicity... It was nice, even if it was fleeting. “I can imagine.” She looked up to him, green eyes wide. “I don’t know,” she admitted softly. “I know I’m normally the one with the plans, but I don’t know what to do.”
Quite a Fright | Lucifer and Natasha
slytherinfromeden:
Perhaps it was the years he’d gone without magic that made Lucifer react as he did. Instead of reaching for his wand to simply mend the box, Lucifer stepped forward to aid Natasha. He reached to grab the box, putting pressure on the lid as it bucked again. “Hurry, c'mon,” he urged as he tried to hold the box shut against the increasingly strong struggles of the boggart within. There was a breaking sound, and a shutter from the box. “Oh, fuck,” Lucifer sighed.
Natasha frowned slightly as the professor grabbed the box, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. You’re better than this, she chastised mentally, grip tightening on the edges of the thing. The crack of wood was loud, though, and her eyes went wide as she saw the lid start to split. “God dammit,” she gasped, flinching as the wood splintered in her hands. A dark form emerged, and Natasha’s eyes went wide as she let go of the broken box.

hawkeyed-archer:
“I get it.” A frown darkened his features. “You had to do what you had to do.” But now it was time for him to do what he needed to do. He’d have to get Crowley back in some way. He could’t tell Natasha. This was about him now. He just turned his head and pressed a kiss to the crown of her hair. “We’re both safe now.”
She sighed, leaning into his touch quietly. “I hope so,” she murmured. “I’m ready to be done with being scared.” Her voice was soft, and she felt exhausted. Hiding so much from Clint had been more taxing than she’d realized, apparently. “I’m glad you’re still alive.”

slytherinfromeden:
As Natasha came in Lucifer turned and grinned. “Perfect, come over.” He threw the wardrobe’s doors open, indicating for Natasha to put the boggart inside. “If we’re quick about it you won’t need to open the box, just toss it in.” She seemed to have done the job without issue. At least, she seemed untraumatized and uninjured. It was good that Natasha was proving to be competent.
Natasha gripped the box tight, smiling slightly as Lucifer opened the wardrobe. “I’ll do my best.” She moved forward, trying to get the box set down, but it bucked in her hands before she could stop it. “Shit,” she breathed, trying to get her hands around it again. It slipped, though, and she could see a crack running down the lid. “Professor, I might need a little help.”
Quite a Fright | Lucifer and Natasha
Lucifer had decided against keeping the boggart in the office. He had to work there after all, it would be inconvenient if the thing got out and tried to scare him during all hours of the day. So, towards the end of keeping safe but far away, Lucifer had co-opted a storage room to be his ‘lab’. A place where he could conduct research without it cluttering up his classroom or bedroom.
It was here he’d told Natasha to come, and here he’d installed a large wardrobe with heavy chains wrapped all around it. The chains and lock should hold the boggart inside until Lucifer needed it.
Natasha was clutching the box she’d managed to stow the boggart in tightly, knuckles white as it shook against her grip. It hadn’t been easy to get it there, and the damn thing hadn’t been dormant for long. Really, she was just impressed that she’d managed to fit it into something she could carry. She’d call that a win, for the moment anyway.
With both hands occupied, she carefully bumped the door open with a hip. “Professor Novak, I’ve got the boggart,” she called, looking around the small room until she spotted him. “I don’t know how much longer it’ll stay in this, but it’s not escaped yet.” She huffed out a little breath as the box bucked into her ribcage, trying to keep a level head. “It’s not exactly cooperative.”

“At least I can say I tried even if you leave. Which I wouldn’t be upset if you did.” The Hufflepuff returned his focus to staring out at the snow below. “Yeah. This place isn’t safe.” Especially not with him there, when he could lose control again without knowing. “I constantly live with a monster. It lives everywhere, can’t escape from it…” He trailed off and reached up to push long strands of hair from his eyes. “Not even when I sleep. So here I am.”
“Doing what you can is more than enough.” Her eyes drifted across the snowy grounds, somewhat pleased at how undisturbed it all was. Peaceful, in a way, and almost unreal. It wouldn’t stay that way for long, but it was nice to see it for herself. “If you don’t mind it, I might stay a while.” Her feet swung gently, heels brushing the cold stone of the outer walls as she enjoyed the view.
“Nowhere’s ever safe forever, I’m finding,” she countered gently, looking over as Bucky fussed with his hair. “But living with a monster sounds hard. My monsters are external, but... I don’t know that it’s much easier. Seems like all the bad choices I make are my own, lately.” She could sympathize with the lack of sleep, because it’d been the same for her. “Dreams never help. That’s why I try to avoid them.”

hawkeyed-archer:
Pale eyes stayed locked on the ground as the archer tried to comprehend what he was being told. He didn’t want to believe it but Tasha wouldn’t lie to him. The urge to find Crowley and demand the truth was overwhelming but he was needed here. For the moment he managed to push his emotions aside and wrapped an arm around the Slytherin. “Nat, you had no choice. You can’t blame yourself. I just wish I could have helped you.”
Natasha watched Clint, almost scared of how he’d react. It was a lot of information at once, none of it good, and she didn’t want to overwhelm him but she also couldn’t keep the truth from him anymore. When his arm slipped around her, she hugged him close, hand stroking along his back. “I’m sorry,” she repeated, pressing her face into his shoulder. “I wish you could’ve helped, too, but I wanted you to stay safe.”

Dean smacked his lips and sighed. “I told you next time I catch you out passed curfew, it would be detention. I guess you didn’t need it the last time. You would have been creamed by a swinging branch that could wipe out a building. I don’t doubt you could with people, but what I’m sure some other professor will be not as lenient if they caught you out. Crowley would probably give you a year’s worth of detention or worse..”
“Yes, well, I hadn’t planned on getting caught again.” She ignored the bit about the Whomping Willow--he was right, and she couldn’t argue that. “Crowley already gave me a month’s detention,” she grumbled. “But the newer Professor Novak is having me assist him with grading, and that gets me out of Crowley’s detention, at least.” There was a hint of relief in her voice, even though she tried to mask it. The idea of being alone with Crowley made her skin crawl, and Dean of all people would know that.

theslytherinspider:
A little groan escaped her, but she didn’t fight it. Of course he was right; she just hadn’t wanted to admit it. “Okay, fine.” That word kept slipping out, ‘fine,’ and it made her feel like a child, but she couldn’t seem to stop it. There was a moment of pause as she debated, wondering if she could sneak out of the Slytherin common room and get to the nest. Ultimately, though, it didn’t seem likely, and she didn’t want Clint to wake up alone when he’d thought she’d slept next to him. “Nest.” Her voice faltered a little, and more of that fierce exterior slipped. “I want to go back to the nest.”
“Alright, let’s go.” He moved his wand to motion her to led the way. The urge to shake his head was unbelievable, but he had to be professional. He had to be the bad guy to escort her back to the nest. He didn’t want to, but it had to be done. What if it was another professor? They possibly could have been harsh on her. What if it was Crowley? Yeah better take care of it now, before someone he absolutely hated encountered her.
Natasha started walking, although not particularly quickly. It wasn’t that she wanted to spend more time with Dean--on the contrary, she wanted away from him as fast as possible. Mostly, she was dragging it out for the sake of being petty. “I don’t see why you’re making such a big deal of this,” she protested, but it lacked conviction. “I can keep myself safe enough. I don’t need your protection.”

One Hand Washes the Other | Natasha and Lucifer
slytherinfromeden:
She was definitely hooked. Lucifer’s eyes glittered with amusement and something akin to pride. “I’m sure you won’t. You seem very capable, Natasha.” The man brought his hands down to clap on the table top. “Alright, I’ve kept you here long enough. Consider yourself free for the evening.”
Natasha took the look on Lucifer’s face for pride or something near it, and it made her feel wonderful. It wasn’t exactly a humble moment for her, but that didn’t matter. She was being trusted with something important, with no uncertainty or caveats. There wasn’t a particular example that came to mind, it’d been so long since she’d felt that. “Thank you, sir.” The sudden burst of sound snapped her out of her own prideful moment, and she reached for her bag. “Of course. I’m glad I was able to help you with the papers.” She stood, giving him an easy, open smile. “I’ll see you in class, professor.”

Lucifer nodded. “I’m trusting you to capture it. On your next Hogsmeade weekend, get it back to the castle with little to no property damage. And if you’re having trouble, just let me know.” Despite the lightness of his voice, the ‘no pressure’ tone, there was an unspoken implication that Natasha would fail some kind of test in his eyes if she ended up asking for his help.
“I can do that.” Her voice was firm, full of determination and more than a little pride. The idea that she could fail this test, fail him, cemented the importance of the task. It didn’t seem too hard, but it was one she couldn’t afford to mess up. And it was something she needed to do herself. “There’s no need to worry, there won’t be any trouble. I won’t let you down.”
