Bio:
Wendy Slinkhard was born into a family that lived fairly rurally and liked to keep themselves to themselves, and she had a childhood of peace. Her father was a wizard but her mother was a muggle, and her father had seen the writing on the wall early amongst the purebloods he had known at Hogwarts and he decided to keep his family away from wizarding society as much as possible. Many of the local families in their village were muggle, and so it wasn't until Hogwarts that Wendy had her first real wizarding friends and she was sorted into Ravenclaw.
Taking a leaf from her father's book, Wendy tried not to get into too much mischief at Hogwarts. She found herself in the library more often than not and slowly discovered a love for writing reems and reems of parchment, crafting fictional worlds that offered a little bit of escapism from the darkness that seemed to be creeping along Hogwarts' corridors. There wasn't really anything else that seemed to capture her interest, though she still applied herself well to her subjects.
Leaving Hogwarts, Wendy worked in Flourish and Blotts as an assistant whilst she put the finishing touches on her own novel. Her book came out at the end of the last year, and she has already started work on the next one. The royalties from the book are small, given she owed a lot to the publishing house who took a risk on her first novel, but it's enough to get a small flat on the outskirts of London and live a comfortable life so she no longer needs to work in Flourish and Blotts. In a world of such darkness and despair, people seemed to want a world to hide themselves in and Wendy is more than happy to oblige with as much writing as possible. Whilst her next book comes to fruition, Wendy sometimes takes a small column in the Daily Prophet with poems or short stories to tide her over.
