Hey, sorry. The National Abortion Ban that GOP wanted to put into place has been introduced into the House.
Make those calls and lets get this bogus Uterus biased ban out before it even has a chance for a vote.
Do Not Be Fooled By The Language Used In the Text.
The type of abortion being described is called a Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) it is the most common abortion post 12 weeks and with advances in medication, the most humane abortion that currently exists for parents grieving over the loss of their choice. As it allows a doctor to remove the fetus completely intact (unless again something is seriously wrong with development) and gives the parents a body to bury and mourn.
By the time you NEED a D&E, the Fetus most likely been diagnosed with a life affecting birth defect that will let the baby suffer once outside the womb to a short life and painful death as is the case, since only 10% of ALL abortions in the US happen, after the 12 week mark, of which D&E is the safest method during the second trimester. The Fetus is already miscarried and dead but not removed naturally, and will slowly poison the mother through sepsis, as is quite common for decayed tissues to go necrotic when they're fucking dead and in a nice bacteria warm incubator at the perfect temperature. Or the Mother and Baby are at risk of Death without abortion from the series of complications that pregnancies can cause just from getting pregnant.
It's a sad but medically necessary procedure for what is most commonly a wanted child. People do NOT just WILLY NILLY get abortions after 3-4 months out of the gestating 10 month's needed for a human being!!!!!!!!! Unless something is seriously wrong with either the mother, baby, or both.
Especially with all the preventatives out in the market that you can get over the counter or over the state line. That is a bold fucking Lie the GOP are using against people capable of carrying pregnancies, to control their fucking bodies.
Another semi-unrelated Anecdote about D&E's -if you're in the situation my mother was in the 1980's:
The US military would push these on their female service members once proof of their rape was growing in the belly. Because that baby was legal proof of the Military's own culpable allowance of war crimes on home soil pre-DNA testing.
If those service members refused the procedure, and no opportunity to sedate them and claim "medical complication made you miscarried" arrived, well. . . gun violence was much higher in 1980, than it is now. And not every Athena was able to avoid friendly fire.
BTW Mama Doctor Jones goes into a good explanation about why "Fetal Rights" are absolutely dangerous. And how, like fictional pornography, ALL Bodily Autonomy Choices need protection.
Even the one's you do not personally agree with.
ESPECIALLY the ones you do not personally agree with.
