There’s nothing more representative of Doctor Who than the following two facts:
every single dalek story plays the fact that the daleks are involved as a reveal
every single dalek story has the word “dalek” in the title
“What puzzles me is why it’s happening now!”
Trial of a Time Lord - Season 23 - 1986
“Brilliant” - Digital Oil Painting
Jodie Whittaker as the Tenth Doctor with Ten’s companions.
Please see the notes for my links, bear in mind that reblogs are very important while Tumblr has links killed.
Ok but, the doctor is soooo in love with the tardis, like the pure gay energy in that scene was unreal. “my beautiful ghost monument, I’ve missed you” *stares longingly into the distance and runs to her lost love* The doctor is completely without hope, which is a very rare thing, and she thinks that the tardis has abandoned her after her last regeneration but she came back!! ‘It’s alright, it’s me’ (!!!) She full on strokes the door and whispers longingly to it like ‘I’m sorry, I lost my key’ and the tardis just open the door for her, welcoming her home! The way her face lights up with ‘you’ve redecorated, I really like it’ as a play on when the previous doctors always hate the new tardis interiors. She’s not even trying to hide it from her companions, they’re watching her low key make out with a wooden box. That whole scene was so emotional and then, the way the doctor starts up the engine with pure joy, all of it jumbled together from miscellaneous with the hourglass and pedal, all very reminiscent of the RTD era tardis… and then the tardis gives her a biscuit and she’s sO HaPPY!!?!? adorable. OTP forever. To think I would ever ship a character so hard with telephone box this is ridiculous and so so beautiful I love 13 and all her craziness and cleverness with all my god dang heart *mic drop*
The Twelfth Doctor
Fun reminder that Time Lords can fly.
Unnamed Time Lord flying while traveling incognito, Terror of the Autons, Season 8, 1971
Drax suggesting flying as part of his plan, The Armageddon Factor, Season 16, 1978
These screencaps do not capture how disappointed Romana was when she thought the Doctor was telling her he’d rather fly, City of Death, Season 17, 1979
The Doctor assuring Tegan and Nyssa he won’t be hard to carry because he’ll be levitating, Castrovalva, Season 19, 1982
I should have clarified when I posted this that it is very possible the Doctor’s levitation in the Zero Cabinet Castrovalva could have more to do with the Zero Cabinet itself (since they were levitating in the Zero Room earlier, an occurrence that seemed connected to that space) than with their own Time Lord physiology.
I also wish to ask, how did the Doctor tie themself up for their magic show in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, if there wasn’t some use of flight involved? The Gods of Ragnarok certainly didn’t help, and there was no one else there!
The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, Season 25, 1987
(How they managed to get themself in the straight jacket is beyond me, but I am certain that if anyone asked they’d say it’s something Houdini taught them)
I think the levitating is made easier by the zero cabinet but not inherent to it, since the Doctor said something along the lines of “even the gravity is only local”
I think the takeaway might be that Time Lords can fly, but the Doctor is spectacularly bad at it.
…just like regeneration and TARDIS piloting
this is fun but the 4th doctor died of falling down
but it might explain why the 10th Doctor didn’t…
i think it’s almost unforgivable that nobody’s added this particular third doctor comic strip yet, which explains (???) this weird talent that the Doctor seems to have
@doctorwho can you address what your sibling has done and also are they okay
What the hell is happening here?
When someone posts original Doctor Who content
the doctor who writers were super lucky they picked britney spears toxic for the “traditional earth ballad” joke because the song was only 2 years old then, they couldn’t have known it would be that iconic and timeless. they could so easily have picked a more forgettable and dated chart hit from 2003
#rtd is gay he knows a timeless pop hit when he hears one
catch me crying at the Donna reference
HAVE YOU ALL BEEN TIME TRAVELING WITHOUT ME???
When Doctor Who first started up again in 2005, companions were people that kind of moved in with the Doctor and practically cut off their entire home life.
Now, companions are people that have to deal with the possibility that at any given moment, they can be having a quiet evening at home and this hyperactive dumbass will land a spaceship directly in their bedroom unannounced. Because boredom.
And personally I find it 500% better
this tag is fucking killing me because that’s it, that’s the entire plot of series 10
4th!
