Neir: Guys, I have a plan.
Murklin: The four words society fears most.
for someone who looks exactly like jason todd and who owns a crumbling shack full of weapons including at least one grenade launcher, it's amazing how little dera is actually a jason. it is possible: you can go through some pretty bad trauma, have a bad relationship with your dad, learn in weird circumstances that you actually have a little brother, monitor the situation in a specific location for a living, and yet be pretty chill and get along well with your fake wife, a bodybuilder who longs only for jason st⭐tham. lessons for the young mr. todd.
Rachel: Are Luke and David having a staring contest?
Leila: Luke is, but I'm pretty sure David is just plotting revenge for something and forgot to blink.
who is at the most danger of fading?
Jared. Cup’s Jared is definitely in the most danger of fading. Eldred wasn’t just spitting words. Cup’s hope is frayed to the thinnest thread. He loves baseball but the dreams have eroded so much over the years. Mugs and the hope to get home has helped but things are changing. They are good changes but one of them is Cup letting go of the past. Accepting things will not go back to how they were even if they are freed and so Jared might fade with that past dream. We’ll have to see.
I've been thinking about Inky Mystery for the past few days instead of doing anything productive, and I've come to a realisation that made me feel like I was having an Albert Einstein moment before I actually thought about it for a second.
All of the Questers, with two exceptions, have been portrayed in a way that could simplified into "evil" if we really think about it. Cuphead and Mugman being the main antagonists for a good portion of the early chapters, even if unwillingly, Holly with the Cog (and later as Mayhem, if you wanna count them as the same person), Boris during the latter half of the Labyrinth, and Bendy when he loses it and tries to genuinely eviscerate Leticia. Now, you may notice a repeating pattern here. None of these instances are WILLFUL antagonism, and not all of them can even be counted as "evil" unless we use a very stupid definition for the word. There are two exceptions among the Questers, those being Alice and Felix. I WOULD count Felix trying to slime the Cupbros out, but, one, that would ruin my already loose point, and, more importantly, the scene is framed in a way where the Cupbros are the antagonists for not revealing the truth or even supposedly commiting the act in the first place, and it's made clear that Felix is having some kind of violent breakdown, rightfully so.
Now, what am I getting at? What do the words Baja Blast and Pie have in common? They're both ingredients in the Baja Blast Pie.
To be honest, this is where my Einstein moment ended. I really can't draw any conclusions from this observation. It could be an omen, but I doubt it'll be something as repetitively silly as that, even if I do kind of think having unknowingly and comically evil versions of each Quester would be so ridiculous it circles right back to being amazing. Alice and Felix are both such lovely characters, I could hardly imagine them being "evil" unless it was full on possession or another Cog situation where the magical item messes their brain chemistry up. Personally, I also think these pseudo-antagonism moments benefit the characters most. For Holly and Boris specifically, I didn't hate them beforehand, but I only really ADORED them after the fact. It gives so much room for development, especially with Holly where we literally see into her mind, I LOVED that part. I could also say that it's a reflection of the characters' morals and resolve. Again, none of them really do it under normal circumstances, most of them not even willingly. And Alice and Felix are arguably portrayed as the "resposible ones" who KNOW what their limits are, so it makes sense for them to be left out of the Evil Quintet.
Okay, I’m curious. What do the rest of you think? Because I have some thoughts but I want to hold off for a second.
Okay, back to this because it’s now been a second so I’ll share. Also some spoilers.
One of the biggest themes in IM is that it’s a black and white world that at first seems to justify white and black thinking. That on the surface there are good guys and there are bad guys and that the good guys should always win and the bad guys should always be punished.
And we show over and over again that that kind of thinking is only damaging to everyone. Those it is implied about and those implying it. That every character has their own motivations and reasonings. Still done in a way that there ARE bad guys but it’s harder to know who really is a villain here. The heroes have their failings. None of them are perfect. They are all horribly flawed and can make mistakes. Ones with big consequences. And villains that if you sit and think, are they really so villainous? They’re doing bad things sure, but so have the heroes.
IM is full of shades of gray. It’s meant to make you think. It also causations against generalizing a whole group as bad. Demons, angels, dishes, micco, witches, wolves, rabbits, unicorns, and so on.
Cup and Mugs should be in the position of heroes but due to poor choices are forced to be antagonists and when they are trying to turn around, it’s not that easy.
Boris is a kid thrown into very real dangers and expected to keep it together like an adult. He had an easy way to ‘fix’ everything offered to him. To make it perfect and make all the bad and the pain and uncertain fear go away. What kid wouldn’t reach for that?
Holly is tempted and she didn’t even realize she was. It’s an easy small mistake that leads to a whole city wide ordeal so very quickly.
Bendy is constantly expected the worst of because of what he is. He has to prove who he really is again and again and again. And under the worst stress, maybe he just wants to give into what people have told him. Just a little. See what kind of monster they’re all so afraid of. But that also threatens everything he wants to be and what is he supposed to do when his own magic and body are out of his hands like going Beastly? Others fear of you is one thing but being afraid of yourself is another.
And that leaves Felix and Alice. You’re right, they don’t have an evil phase. Angels are the guardians of the world. The goodest good guys you could ask for. Except this isn’t a black and white world of thinking and the harder you look the more cracks you see. The angels are infallible and Alice has learned this. The angels and herself are prone to make mistakes just as terrible as anyone else. We have yet to see what she does with this knowledge.
Then there’s Felix. I’ll be honest, he doesn’t really need an evil phase. That’s not where his story is headed. His demons are different (ha. Sorry Bendy). The difference between the person the public thinks he is and who he thinks he is. The person his friends and family claim him to be and who he claims to be. The pressure to be the oh so wonderful, wonderful cat! He already walked from fame once and now he has a new fame. The lime light love him. But does it allow him to be a person with his own faults? Can he be forgiven if he wants to live his life his way? It sounds simple when it’s about anybody but a star? A public figure? Don’t they OWE the masses that gave them their fame and wealth? Shouldn’t they be held to a higher standard? And if not, doesn’t that make him a bad selfish person? These are a couple of themes that will be coming up.
We haven’t really gotten far into Felix’s story yet but look out for these and other twists and turns we have planned. I’m excited for Felix and Alice’s stories taking center stage. And thanks for talking about the evils of the other questers. It was fun to ramble!
What's each of the Bendys favorite traits of Alice? And how do they feel about Alison?
Crudy: She’s hot.
Dandy: Be serious!
Crudy: What?! I’M NOT WRONG!
Dandy: Shame on you! Alice is sweet and considerate. She is willing to do whatever it takes to do what she believes is the right thing.
Broody: She could break me in half.
Dandy: BROODY!
Broody: What?! Okay, it’d be more of a fair fight between us but the girl is tough! Strong women are awesome! And I bet she’s been holding back! I wanna see her go all out.
Dandy: Randy, what about you?
Randy: We met her when she had a prejudice against demons. Not really uncommon but certainly a detractor for trust. It has been satisfying to watch her learn and be willing to grow from that to a more understanding and open person. I appreciate that she is willing to expand her knowledge even when it makes her uncomfortable. She doesn’t want the easy answer, she wants the truth.
The others:…
Crudy: Damn Randy. That’s deep.
Dandy: Would you like to change your answer Crudy?
Crudy: Fine, fine. She wants to believe the best in people. There’s just always a way to help and she wants to find it. I dunno. That kind of optimize is special to me. I can tell she believes in us and what we are doing and I wanna make her proud.
Dandy: Aaaawww. That’s so thoughtful—
Crudy: Her puns are great too.
Randy: And there it goes, right out the window.
(Minor spoilers for recent chapters)
Crudy: As for Alison! She’s great! Also really funny and understanding.
Randy: I want to explore a plane engine with her.
Broody: Neeeerd—HEY! Don’t you throw wrenches at me unless you wanna fight loser!
Dandy: Well she seems very kind and curious. She’s supportive but I’m a little worried about her.
Crudy: Same. Lost her job and she has to get to Italy on her own? That’s stardust.
Broody: Hell, we don’t even know her THAT well and she was willing to stay with us to get some help. She has it cussing rough.
Dandy: Well, that’s what friends are for! We’ll get her home safe and sound. She supported us in using magic. This is the least we can do for her.
You know what- your new post wants me wanna ask this. How bad does Bendy get when sick? Like what does he do when he gets hazy and especially now with all his new powers. The Questers would have a new adventure called 'Taming the sick Beast'
I’m not entirely sure I understand what you’re asking but I’ll give it a shot.
Mentally, it’s just pain. The worst pain and your senses slowly fading as that pain takes over and the ink blinds and deafens you.
He’s reaction? Well it’s not like he’s flailing around much. Even with the additional understanding of his magic he mostly curls up into a ball and waits for it to end. Could he try to pull what he did at the cliffs while fighting Cala Maria? Yeah. He doesn’t because he isn’t sure if it’s making him worse or not. He doesn’t want to risk it unless it’s absolutely necessary. And it’s not like he can punch the sickness away. He’d be afraid of hurting someone (a constant concern of his really. Even now.) Now if he went Beastly and THEN had an ink attack? Bendy at his most basic survival instincts? Ooof. That’d be rough. I don’t think he’d understand people are trying to help him. Might have to keep their distance until he calms down. Like a rapid bear. Stars, that’d be one big puddle and mess.

What game do you associate most strongly with a specific time in your life?

That one is tough. Silent Hill 2 was big in my step into horror. Kingdom Hearts was a turn into writing stories with characters I knew. Amnesia introduced me to Let’s Players. Undertale really showed me what an AU could be with some imagination. And Among Us was the huge “I’m stuck here but I still have friends” era of the pandemic. So video games have been around for a lot of steps in my life.

Leila: Your siblings are screaming and shouting outside. Don't you think you should do something?
David: You're right, I should.
David: *closes window*
The siblings: DAVID!!!
Question for the Mind Mugs!
What are your favorite childhood memories? What do you miss the most?
Aerman: Planes! But also sneaking off to the carnival in the summer.
Roman: Reading a book under the shade of a tree and dreaming of adventures.
Reman: Listening to Elder Kettle’s stories with cocoa by the fire.
Norman: Wrestling with Cuphead outside. Snowball fights. Sailing.
Hartman: I wasn’t really there for a lot of it. I guess painting the ceiling with Cup in our room. And drawing on the walls. Making Flug mad was always fun. Or sneak desserts from the kitchen.
How would the Brain Bendys feel knowing that one of [technically two] Cup's aspects talks to their feelings?
Not sure if asking this one pushes things or not, sorry if so
Crudy: Cup’s aspects do that?
Dandy: Aaaaaaw they like us!! 💞
Broody: Wh-uh? No! And stop doing that! For all we know Cup’s aspects are swearing up a storm at us.
Dandy: No! We are best buddy pal friends forever!
Broody:…
Crudy: Don’t.
Broody: He’s a—
Crudy: ANYWAY! That’s really interesting.
Randy: I wonder if we can build up a method of communication.
Dandy: LIKE MINDREADING?!
Broody: Cussing hell! No! NOT THAT!
Crudy: Oh stars.
Dandy: I’m gonna start talking to Cup’s feelings too!
Broody: LOOK WHAT YOU STARTED!
Randy: Stop shaking me!
Brian Bendy’s! Who is your favorite Demon?
I'm thinking Randy will choose Murklin, Dandy will choose Kaden, Broody with ride? Don't know with crude tho....maybe just maybe Hat? I mean, he did stand for you, and he does care. how do you guys feel about him?
Crudy: They answered for us! Easy.
Dandy: Crudy! No! Answer the question!
Broody: Cussing funny they say you like Hat.
Dandy: No, that’s you loser. And all his damn violence.
Broody: He’s a man of class.
Crudy: Class my tail eating—
Dandy: OKAY! Well, I do agree that Kaden is an absolute delight I do enjoy Murklin and his designs. His fashion taste is phenomenal!
Randy: He is quite busy savvy too. Though Kaden’s village has developed an interesting approach to agriculture I—
Broody: They said demon not group!
Randy:…I would like to talk to Stolas more.
Broody: Stars above!
Crudy: I’m shock your favorite isn’t that colosseum cusser.
Broody: Cuss a monster that makes kids fight to the death!
Crudy: Well at least we can agree to that.
Broody: But I wouldn’t mind a match.
Crudy: There it is.
Broody: Didn’t say I liked the cusser! We haven’t even met him!
Crudy: And hopefully we never will!
Dandy: What about you Crudy?
Crudy: Well, teasing Reide is pretty funny.
Randy: You and Broody are terrible.

Couch co-op or online?

Couch co-op! Definitely couch. There is just something special about yelling at a screen together and stealing your friend’s snacks while gaming.
did Cup ever have that period during his growth spurt where he just .. didn’t know what to do with his limbs? Like that awkward lanky phase, if that makes sense.
this is worded horribly but hopefully you get what im trying to say 💔
Absolutely. He was about fifteen and sixteen when he just didn’t fit right with himself. He was clumsier and had a bandage somewhere on his person those years from banging his knees, elbows, and face into difference surfaces. Poor guy’s growth spurts were rough. Mugs wasn’t much better.

Ellie from the Last of Us. She was a fun character and a good support in the game. Not the usual escort mission drag.
Roman, what's your favorite poem? Is it one you've written or someone else's?
Roman: You think I only have ONE?! My dear friend there are many! They may change at the slightest breeze too! I mean how in the world am I supposed to choose?! There’s amazing works The world is a beautiful place by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Haunted Houses by Henry Longfellow! There’s also a Line-storm Song by Robert Frost or The Owl and the Pussy-Cat by Edward Lear oh and I can’t forget about The Bells by Edgar Poe! There’s also—
Aerman: OKAY ROMAN WE GET IT!! YOU LIKE POETRY!!!
Reman: He really could talk our handles off.
Roman: Should I recite them instead?
Norman: Stars no.
Roman: I have them memorized! Oh what—
Norman and Aerman: NO!
Roman: Barbarians! The lot of you!
Hartman: Hehehe. Maybe next time buddy.
