White Cat Contact sheet - Unless you're Walter Chandaha, it is incredibly difficult to get a decent, close up photograph’s of cats. 

The twin white cats in the chosen picture above represent spectral entities as well as a homage to spirit doppelgänger’s in Lynch and Frost’s Twin Peaks.

After presenting the project thus far, it was apparent that two photographs of white horses was too much. I chose to keep the body photograph which carries a line across through the fur, which would match perfectly between the seam foam and the skyscape. Furthermore, it almost looks like a birds-eye view of a cracked landscape.

When I started making images, I thought I could implement interesting shifts of focus using the 5X4 plates to take the pictures further away from how we experience reality and to make it more obvious that this is not a documentary project. However, viewers found the focus shifts unpleasant to look at and already felt the fantastical, otherworldly atmosphere from the image content as it was. For the gateway I tried twisting the front plane to blur the edges of the image.

The aesthetic of this bush reminded of a heart by its rounded shape and vein like branches extending out into flourishing greenery (limbs/body). I will print it smaller than other prints to maintain that heart symbolism. I converted it to black and white for a more suitable aesthetic and to make it more obvious that there is intention in this photograph.

Cemetery, imagery is too obvious in relation to the subject matter.

But thanks to its location and its deep, absorbing aesthetic, this tree for me represents rebirth without lending itself to the viewer.

Do Ho Suh, Passage/s. Victoria Miro Gallery. An exhibition combining multi-media exploration of cultural and geographical relationship of the person and the home. Do Ho Suh stitched small, intricate house details into paper via thread, recorded a 180 degree video, made photograms of light bulbs and a toilet, and created a delicate, transparent, 3D structure. The structure is a combination of sections of locations the artist has lived in over the course of his life thus far. He turned them into a corridor, a space primarily used to get from one place to the next, providing significance to a grey area of insignificance. The video, made with three camera simultaneously recording, capture a 180 degree view of various walks in the areas his houses have resided in. Audio of conversations between the artist and his daughter can be heard, this adds another dimension between human relationship within and around the concept of the home.
