I'm really upset for my boy and just angry, while also understanding that "these things happen"

Ultimately I got a call that Lemon got bitten today, but unfortunately this isn't the only time, this is the 4th recent incident, two of the times were on the same day, one actually breaking his skin and the other being so hard that it happened early afternoon and teeth marks were still visible by bedtime. They obviously cannot tell me who the kid is and the woman who called today said she wasn't sure if it was the same child as the previous incidents, but obviously Lemon does tell us and it seems to be his bestie.

I told her that although I understand with the age range they have in there that these things happen, but I'm concerned it's happened so many times in such a short space of time. And those 4 times have been just as he's been doing better at going in. Thankfully the time the kid broke his skin Lemon actually was not phased by it, but if it keeps happening...

It's also not the only thing, there is a kid that pushes them all, apparently all the kids have Labelled him "big guy" despite the fact he is actually at least a year younger and much smaller than Lemon.

They've told me that "big guy" is being assessed for autism and that they are putting in a care plan and hoping to get extra funding for more 121 care with him, so good.

And apparently the kid that bit him today is having a behavioural improvement plan put in.

I think the thing that worries me is this kind of thing didn't happen in such a short space of time at his previous place and I put that down to the structure they had there.

His nursery now promotes child lead learning/play and honestly I think that often means a bit if a free for all and although they are obviously supervised, it's so haphazard that they just can't be as on the ball as the previous place.

Yeah. It's making me fucking sad. It makes me want to take him out, but honestly I worry about how confusing that will be and worry it will impact how he manages the transition to reception.

I secured the mum friend ... Sort of, it's like early stages dating. Our boys still wont play together, but we chatted today and said about meeting up and doing play dates at parks or houses so swapped numbers! Yay!

#This was the one I mentioned who just was really easy to chat to and I wanted to be friends #but our boys ignore each other #and then she stopped coming for a bit

While we were getting dressed:

Lemon: hmmm, my nipples are still here!

Me: yep, they will be there forever

Lemon: because we won't let them run away and hide?

Met my Stepmums SIL this morning, her and her husband are in Norwich, she actually wanted to see the house but we have the electrician in and the majority of the day we haven't had electricity (shit... Should I worry about the food in fridge/freezer, it was off for about 3hrs)

Anyhow we skipped the house and Lemons at nursery so she didn't get to see him, but today was the only day she could do. We ended up having a look around the shops which was fine, but honestly I hate shopping with people. We stopped off at a couple places for coffees, I actually really wanted to get lunch cos I hadn't eaten anything all day and although that was the plan she didn't want a lunch, which slightly annoyed me cos that was the plan. Anthony other than that it was actually very nice chatting to her, I honestly don't really know her well, although my Dad and Stepmum have been together for 35ish years, I've only met her brother and SIL a handful of times over the years. She's quite an interesting woman and she actually told me about how she'd wanted children but it didn't happen for them, I'd always assumed they'd chosen not to have kids. Anyhow as it turns out I found it easier to chat with her than my Stepmum, nothing against my Stepmum, but I think she just overthinks doing or saying the wrong thing so all chats feel kinda unnatural.

I am actually grateful I saw her without the husband, I've only ever seen them together and actually hate the way he talks to her, like her existence annoys him. Men are the worst.

Ok so Lemons Birthday is coming up and I'm feeling a little sad about it all.

Basically I had an initial plan to go back to Sussex and do a birthday party with his old friends, as it turns out I'm feeling like that might actually be a very bad idea because of all the issues he's had with nursery and I worry seeing those kids will confuse him and set him back.

The second plan was to go back to Sussex and just do a family party, it would feel like an actual party and he would get to see and play with his cousins.

And that's looking less likely as Dad and Stepmum said they have a really busy June so they basically wouldn't be able to do it. I guess I can still do it without them, but I know Stepmum especially would be upset by that.

The truth of the matter is I basically feel like and think without an event friends and most family will actually forget it's his birthday. I think my sister will remember, Stepmum I hope will, maybe one friend, I'd be surprised if anyone else remembers or even sends a card. And ultimately it's not about presents and likely he will be fine and won't know much difference, but I've spent years being upset over the fact my Dad and brothers never remember my birthday and I'll just be more upset that Lemon will get that same treatment.

In an effort to make this a less depressing post, Lemon has been asking for a dinosaur cake and I don't think I can make a cake with an air fryer. So I'm gonna look at finding somewhere that will just do some sponges and then I can decorate it how I want. I've found a cute Dino cake inspiration. Also think we are gonna get him a bike, although he's now also been asking for a scooter and he practically shat himself with excitement when he saw a girl in roller sakes today, so I'm betting he will ask for that now.

Any suggestions as extras, whats and ideal present for a 4 year old.

Lemon said he wanted to be a bird.... So I made it happen. He was very excited and wanted to get stuck in, liked the measuring and cutting and then got bored after glueing 2 feathers on, so I took over and he told me what colour to put on next, till he found that boring and told me "red" every time.

So can you all praise me for my bird making abilities... Thank you!

He's a pretty happy bird boy now.

We also did a school visit and it went really well, from Lemon not allowing us to talk about school and simply not engaging with any attempt to explain, to telling us what bits he liked and asking us questions about it. I also feel massively reassured about how they will tackle potential difficulty starting, I chatted to one of the teachers and she was really lovely and explained all the adjustments they can make if it's necessary.

Also the nobody's child dress I got for £10 on vinted!

We have a date this afternoon! Panda (Sitters nickname) is coming soon and Lemon absolutely adores her so he's already excited.

We've booked a tapas place, I'm basically of the mindset that we will eventually have tried every place in Norwich.

There is a wedding happening in the church near us and we got a glimpse of the bride and now can hear the choir singing. Adorable... I may have shed a tear.

We had the best drop off today that I cried happy tears with how incredibly sweet Lemon is.

There was a very slight protest just before we left the house, but it didn't take long to coax him out.

When we got outside and had our goodbyes he took my face in his hands and told me "mummy I'm going to leave you and I'm going to be very impressed for you" he had a really big smile on his face.

Ugh, even writing it down makes me choke up with pride.

I don't doubt there will continue to be some wobbles here and there. Especially with starting reception soon, but today was just an absolute win and the tenderness and reassurance he was giving to me was just so lovely.

Same room from different ends and at totally different times (before we moved in, ripped all the wallpaper and carpets up and after)

Anyhow.... Where would you put the sofa in this room, ignore where the TV currently is and how big it is, we will downsize, I actually think I want to have built in shelves and units in the alcoves.

But yeah opinions.

Having a little ice cold drink break, so so much dust, Lemon has been an absolute champion dipping between solo playing and helping. I've managed to rearrange the conservatory aka playroom. Vacuumed the whole downstairs and then mopped the upstairs hall, stairs, downstairs hallway, kitchen and gonna do the living room, then I can start putting furniture back.

All our clothes have been collecting in the dining room as we haven't had access to our rooms properly for 2 weeks so I've got to put all that away and try and make the dining room usable.

I've just moved the sofa around so I can do a proper hover of the room and now I like it more than how we usually have the room. Which makes me regret one of the socket placements

The plastering all got finished up yesterday. I was able to clean most of upstairs but didn't get any of downstairs done.

Lemons usual stay and play isn't on but we've been out so so much the last two weeks that I'm just gonna continue cleaning and get him to either help or set him up some activities to keep him busy.

We have the architect coming tomorrow to measure up and chat about our ideas which is really exciting. I don't know why I have this worry he will get it wrong, like this is his job, but also what do I even consider wrong, plus plans can get tweaked. For the most part the plan is simple and we feel like there is one obvious flow of the house so it's not like we are having anything complicated.

I've been trying on bras for an hour and half and although that time frame says differently, it's been very successful, so I've decided to try on swimwear.

Honestly currently looking at myself in the mirror in clothes is meh and I know a lot of it is because of a shitly fitting bra.

We've had the best drop off today, not perfect but good. There was a delay when getting Lemon in shoes and out of the house, BUT there were no tears, no protest of "I don't want to go to nursery" he was absolutely stalling and also did tell me he didn't like me, first time that's happened. But we got out and he was happy on the journey, we said our goodbyes and he very sweetly grabbed my face for a kiss. When I told him I loved him he said "I like you too" and I felt like on it the MAFS brides. But honestly he was very sweet and lovely. Absolutely no tears when he went in without me and I even heard him chatting away as they were close the door and I was walking away.

I needed this win!
