The death of "The Selfie": Bad timing for this show?
No.
I'll explain:
Apparently, just as dead as I am, so is "The Selfie". That's what was proclaimed at the last Webby Awards, honours offered to something related to the world wide web. To explain in depth what exactly the Webby Awards does award and to whom is a waste of my time, and so is the research demanded from my side to properly write about that subject, since I know nothing about it.
No problem here. My point can still be made. Watch:
If "The Selfie" is, indeed, dead, and was amongst you for the short period of two years (+2012 - 2014+, according to the Webby people), is that bad for this sublime one-man show that I am creating, considering that the majority of my current efforts resides on my social-media-selfs on Instagram, Twitter and on this here Tumblr? Instead of finishing the unfinished script and conception of the show premiering on Oct 25th at the United Solo Festival in NYC, I've spending my time multiplying myselfies (I believe I invented that word) in all the worthy platforms.
Am I placing my bet on a dead horse?
The answer, again, is no.
I go as far as to say that "The Selfie" might actually be dead and that that is nothing but excellent for the development of this show.
Why? Well, that would explain my current and sudden affinity with the aesthetic of portraying myself in different platforms. I didn't go to "The Selfie". I didn't even know what The Selfie (from now on quoteless) was until very recently. Therefore, the only other logical explanation to our current hand-holding is that The Selfie came to me.
AND
If I am dead now and dead I have been since the 19th century, no special intelligence is necessary to conclude that The Selfie is, too, dead and that our encounter happened in the "other world".
AND
If The Selfie is dead, and so close to me, because I am also dead, we can chat and work on "The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas" with all of our four hands.
My show's development is safe.
END OF THESIS.
PS: IF YOU FOUND THAT TOO LENGTHY, READ THIS INSTEAD:
Brás Cubas = Dead Fictional Character
The Selfie = Dead Social Media Character
Brás Cubas + The Selfie sitting in a tree:
C-R-E-A-T-I-N-G.
PS2: If you are not American and my PS doesn't make any sense to you, you will have to read the whole post. I have nothing else for you.
