Make Friends - Drop Naked

Bristol band Make Friends have a sweet little number with ‘Drop Naked’. It’s chilled out mellow indie, with powerful lyrics and a strong lead vocal. Meddling with vibes of Bombay Bicycle Club and glimmers of 1975 bright-eyed pop, this is a well-rounded song and a perfect example of being able to write an understated indie pop track, whilst still keeping things interesting.

True Blossom - Me & U

‘Me & U’ is a feel-good but a tad melancholic track from American band True Blossom. Mixing funk with synth pop, the track is filled with little electronic elements that keep things sweet - little percussion sounds and hand claps which add to the cuteness of the track. Barely there vocals fit so well with the instrumentation, and by the bridge, there’s a fantastic straight up bold synth solo.

Kakkmaddafakka - Runaway Girl

The Norwegian indie rock sextet’s latest track ‘Runaway Girl’ is upbeat indie pop with tinges of post-punk. It feels retro but also very innovative at the same time. The fast tempo and persistent drumbeat sit perfectly with the lyrics about (obviously) a runaway girl, creating a strong narrative. The vocals are distinct, and it’s a proper indie disco jam.

Saint Agnes - Welcome To Silvertown

Saint Agnes are a band who seem to be on everyone’s lips at the moment in the UK rock scene, and ‘Welcome To Silvertown’ shows why this is no surprise. The track is titled after the band’s upcoming album, and like a darker, more twisted sister of Deap Valley, ‘Welcome To Silvertown’ leaves you shaking with uncertainty with dual vocals and wobbling, chaotic scathing guitars.

FLING - Revolution

Transporting you back to the 90s with Black Grape and Blur’s Leisure reminiscent psychy Britpop is Bradford band FLING. More chilled out than expected, their track ‘Revolution’ pulsates with fuzzy synths and sends you into a trance with swirling guitars and uplifting harmonies. There are more intense moments towards the end, but it’s a fun yet beautiful track, that gets you at all the right moments

True Blossom

True Blossom come fully formed as a super-tight pop unit from Atlanta. They have an LP ‘ Heater ’ on the way on the 14th January through Citrus City .

Let’s go on a spacey grooving escapade with this new five piece named True Blossom. They serve up a whole lot of ebullient twirling dance pop and sultry strutting disco funk on their debut single Baby, our first taste from the newcomers’ debut full length, Heater, arriving January 14th via Citrus City Records. We’re hard pressed on this fine evening not to get up and spin all over the office to the swanky sounds of this glamorous throbbing introduction to True Blossom, who seem ready to blossom indeed with but one song. Hints of plucky pumping The Heirs or torrid whirling Powers fuse with the snazzy bedroom ambrosia of Men I Trust and the indie dance panache of Mausi on the synth washed, dreamy glittering track.
