I no longer practiced loving myself. “If you don’t practice,” my mother said, “You’ll never get better.” As I grew, I began to practice things I hated. I had begun to practice hating myself. I practiced isolation. I practiced ignorance. I practiced self harm. I practiced insanity. My lack of practicing took away love. My lack of practicing brought hatred into my life. I had to practice again. I had to practice love again. I had to practice loving myself, or I would never get better.
