I love Hancock. From the Scions' perspective, of course, he's immediately suspicious, but from his perspective he's just been given a high-stakes babysitting job by his boss that he can't refuse.

"Yes, the primal-slayer, the teenage boy, and the secretary got themselves arrested and charged with sedition immediately the last time they traveled to a foreign city so you'll need to give them some... guidance. The Ala Mhigan girl is prone to punching first and asking questions later; keep her out of trouble. The other teenager we don't have as much intel on, but keep an eye on her as well. Their continued survival is very important to the economic stability of Eorzea. I have every confidence in your abilities."

Hancock, finally having coaxed the Scions into his heavily-warded offices: Here we may speak freely. Please be careful, there are imperial spies in the city.

The Scions: That's cool. Anyway we'll be heading back out to ask about our Doman friends and tell everyone we meet that we're trying to get to Doma.

Hancock, sighing: Fine. Just please do not get into any fights, the Sekiseigumi do not care who you are, they will cut you in half.

One hour later

Lyse: We found some guy who says he'll take us to Doma.

Hancock: That is a known con artist.

Lyse: Well, if he tries to double-cross us I'll just punch him.

Hancock: What did I just say.

Tataru: None of you even tried to haggle?

Hancock: Oh. I like you.

One hour later

The Scions: So the Namazu ratted us out to the imperials and we got into a fight and had to run from the Sekiseigumi.

Hancock: That's it. I'm asking for a raise next month

It was Harvey’s birthday recently so I drew a collage of his childhood/teen years :’)

Lore Explainationssssss (yap yap yap)

I added the bandaids and bruises to represent not only the bullying he endured at school, but his own self harm. It’s sorta projection from my lowest years, when anxiety had me picking deep into my own skin. I’m a lot better now, and of course so is harvey lol. But being able to illustrate my own struggles through him is more comforting than I thought it would be.

Also, I headcannon him to be high-functioning autistic. With crowds and loud sounds he can get easily overwhelmed and often brings headphones, books, or takes walks to drown the noise.

In his older years, Donny is a huge help for this, as he’s really good at reading people and noticing what they might be feeling. He can calmly redirect and help him escape stressful social situations and is patient all throughout :) He’s the one person Harvey doesn’t feel drained around.

❤️‍🩹Some parent lore:

-His father (Gerold Thompson) passed away before Harvey’s 12th birthday. A lot of the passion he has for aviation comes from him, including the air traffic radio he listens to. His also wears an old, brown leather jacket that he grew into over the years, after becoming the age his father once was.

-His mom “Ma” (Eleanor “Ellie” Thompson) is an incredibly smart, nerdy woman. She fell into deep depression after the loss of her husband, and neglected Harvey emotionally for years. Her wake-up call was when she caught Harvey severely injured from self-harm. He continued to try and hide his struggles, but she did her best to support and grow their relationship again.

She’s also a reason why Harvey pursued the medical field. Aside from of course wanting to help others, he wanted to be successful for her and move her out of their apartment, one in which they have not many fond memories in. Being the only family she has left, he wants to make something of himself to make her proud.
