-> The botanist was outside of the mansion at nighttime, something they were specifically told NOT to do, but Azure never really listened, did they? -> They were milling about, collecting dead plants and examining them with careful eyes. One tentacle twitched at the shuffle, drawing their attention away.
[ The brush of leaves against clothing and a couple of giggles was audible in the distance. Suddenly, a pair of hands moved to cover Azureâs eyes from behind, though they were kind enough not to obscure their vision completely. ]
âGuess who?â
[ Their face wasnât visible, but a hint of a smile could be heard in that familiar voice. ]
"Times..." -> The witch let out a low, dry laughter, smile evident despite that fact. Their tentacles twitched, two of them looping back and around the cultist happily. "Did you follow me, my dear?"
âYes I had.â
[ The cultist removed their palms from Azureâs eyes entirely, no longer veiling their sight. Two Timeâs arms came to wrap around Azureâs midsection instead, pressing their forehead against the back of Azureâs shoulder. ]
âDoes that discontent you?â
"No." -> The witch chuckles, low and raspy, their tentacles coiling just a little tighter before loosening, allowing themselves to simply rest against their lover's body. "I just know you'll get in trouble for being out here during the nighttime hours, nightshade." -> They shifted, their tentacles slipping away entirely as they turned to face the other, hugging the cultist against their chest. "But I'll keep you safe."
âThank you. You have my utmost appreciation.â
[ They closed their eyes and rested contently in the arms of their lover, listening to the steady beat of his heart. ]
âI had just been wondering where my partner could have been. I figured he would go to a place like this one. What have you been up to, Azure?â
"Wondering." -> The creature repeated, their arms keeping the other close to their torso. Their tentacles twitched, the zipper on the taller's mouth rattling a little. "I feel restless. Sleep does not bring me the comfort it used to back in our old lives, in that old place we've long forgotten..." -> They tilt their head back, glowing eyes staring at the empty, empty sky. "There's this feeling. It's like a gut punch everytime it crops back up. And no matter what I do, I am unable to shake it."
"Ah?"
[ Two Time tilted their head back as well, looking above alongside Azure. No stars lingered in the black ink that was the sky above them. Two Time noticed that they didn't really seem to exist in the purgatory they resided in. ]
"Are you thinking of a bad omen, perhaps? Or is it something more than that?"
"No." -> They stated, closing their many eyes and letting out a low, deep sigh. Not of annoyance, not of anger, but of fear. "I..." -> They opened their eyes, staring down at their lover. Four brilliant, bright purple eyes lingering on the other's form before they spoke once more. "I fear what might happen to me if we are to ever leave this domain... If we are to ever be free." "Will I be free as well? Will I become what I used to be? Will I be stuck like this, in this body I hate?" -> Will they be dead?
"Azure.."
[ They tilted their head back towards Azure, the previous smile on their face having shifted into a frown. The thought of their future didn't often cross Two Time's mind, but now that Azure had mentioned it, their mind had started to wander as well. ]
[ When they left- if they ever would, what would Two Time do? Where would they and Azure go? Would they have to return to.. ] [ They quickly pushed the thought down before it could fully emerge, Their voice came out shaky as they opened their mouth to speak. ]
"I.. I am afraid that I am unable to reassure you as much as I would like, for.. I do not know for certain what the future holds for us. But whether or not we stay or leave, I.. I will be by your side, Azure..."
[ They trailed off into silence, unsure of what else to say. Words felt like toffee in their mouth, difficult to get out and equally as awkward. ]

Two Time hesitantly cracked upon the door of the respawn cabin, slithering out of it and shutting the door behind them. Theyâd finally respawned (and in a single piece, too!), though judging from the absence of a usual smile on their face, they were still feeling out of it.
They had been thinking to themselves these last few hours. The last thing they had known was having been pinned to the dirt by Shedletsky, and a sharp, searing pain that dug its way through their body, crawling into every nook and cranny until these wings of theirs erupted from their back; and even that second life hadnât been enough to save them.
What had they done to provoke him so badly was what they were unsure of.
-> There they stood. Azure, the tall and dark figure that almost blended in with the darkness around them. How long had they been waiting? Did anyone know they were here? Probably not, but that didn't matter right now. "Teetee..." -> The witch stepped forward, their arms instantly locking around the cultist and pulling them close, their head finding refuge within the other's hair. "My shadow..."
âAzure..â
The cultist stood there and allowed themselves to be embraced by the witch, their voice coming out dazed and confused. They had questions. Maybe not a lot of them, but questions nonetheless.
âWhat had occurred?â
That was the first query that slipped out of their mouth. Maybe not the smartest one, considering they were the target of what had happened, but the limited knowledge they had wasnât enough. They wanted details.
"I am... Unsure of the answer to that myself." -> The witch brought a hand up, carefully lacing their claws into the other's hair as they kissed the top of their beloved's head. "Although I can provide a basic... Explanation, I suppose. Animals are fickle after all... I do believe what happened wasn't of the sentinel's own control... The idea of him of all people hurting someone he vowed to protect willing.... Makes no sense." -> They cradle the cultist closer to their body, taking a moment to wrap their robes around their lover. "We can only pray the Spawn shows him forgiveness... For he has been nothing but a true warrior and man of honor... He would've never done something so vile unless forced to be unkind hands..."
âRight. I was not too aware of what had happened, I am sorry.. may the Spawn show him mercy.. may they purify his soul once more..â
Two Time mumbled within Azureâs robes, lifting a hand and resting it on one of their arms.
âI had not expected that I would be the target of his instincts was all.. I was unable to struggle away from him in time.â
"All we can do is pray that he is... Saved." -> The possessiveness within the witch's hold wasn't lost. It was almost PALPABLE as they kept Two Time close to their body. Was it a little suffocating? Most likely, but Azure was also quite protective over their partner. "We should... Start heading back. It's unsafe out here as we're both aware..."
âI will pray in his place, if he does not wish to pray to the Spawn.â
Two Time allowed their hand to fall to their side once again, giving Azure a nod that gestured for the two of them to begin heading back.
âI entrust you the task of leading us the way back, Azure.â
-> Azure stills for a moment, simply holding the survivalist before finally pulling away, their clawed hand grabbing onto Two Time's before they began the trek back "home". "Everything's a mess...." -> They hissed out slightly, annoyance lacing their word that dripped between their lips. Azure always seemed agitated by... Something, but it made sense in a world like this. "I am unable to locate that... Delivery boy. The healer. I saw his bag lying in the living room..."
âI have heard that things are not in top shape right now, to say the least. What was the last you had heard of Mr. Shedletskyâs animalistic form? Has he recovered?â

âAlas, in times like these, I suppose it is to be expected in such a unique world. I shall continue my prayers to the Spawn, in the hopes that our suffering may be alleviated.â
"I can only pray he has." -> The witch made a soft clicking noise within their throat as they approached the mansion with their lover. Only god knows what could be happening right, and honestly? Azure didn't much care to find out right now. They were too pissy, something felt amiss. "Let's just head back to our room... I feel my agitation getting worse for some reason..." -> They rub at their temple a little with their free hand, huffing slightly.
"Yes, Azure. Let's."
They held on tighter to Azure's hand, following them into the mansion and turning their head to get a better look at Azure's face.
