Some of you “younger” folk might not know how “In A Sentimental Mood” became synonymous with not only Love Jones, but the act of sharing intimacy without sex…

I wouldnt wish what Nia Long did to this brotha this scene on even my worst enemy, having her night gown unzipped and asking him to fix it, looking back over her shoulder at the top of the stairs giving him that moment of encouragement to come and get that, turning off that light to imply that she was going to sleep… that shit hurts down there, its painful.

But Darius recovered and took control of the situation.

He grabbed one of the best pieces to ever be pressed to vinyl and he grabbed this woman… and he held her and smelled her hair and made sure she felt a man in her presence that night.

Probably one of my favorite moments in the entire film.

Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time.

In A Sentimental Mood was born to me in this scene.
